Great pic that.Big Latch celebrates
I've got a soft spot for the 1977 team. A keeper and a centre half short of a great team IMO.I've heard a few say that the teams either side of the 69/70 season were the best.
Goals - Peter Scott, Colin Harvey and John Hurst, FA Cup, 1972-3, 3-2 against Crystal Palace.
Harvey said the opposite -why? the 1969/70 team only had 3 midfielders not 4 like the 1980s successful side - although the 1980s side won more I feel the 1967 - to 1970 team played more spectacular football v tougher opposition too in that era - hard to compare I know!
Went to this replay and the game at Palace, the got their retaliation in first and no mistakeGoals - Peter Scott, Colin Harvey and John Hurst, FA Cup, 1972-3, 3-2 against Crystal Palace.
Disclaimer; Well degsy which one would you go and watch given a free trip in the TARDIS?
69-70 all day long...throw in decent beer and proper music - No Contest.
I'd go for 84/85 just for the cup runs. Wrapping the League Title up with games to spare, with two Cup Finals coming up at the end of May. Can't imagine how exciting that must have felt at the time.
