Old Everton Pictures

Jeez. Sharpy looks like he's been sniffing something!

Harvey said the opposite -why? the 1969/70 team only had 3 midfielders not 4 like the 1980s successful side - although the 1980s side won more I feel the 1967 - to 1970 team played more spectacular football v tougher opposition too in that era - hard to compare I know!

Harvey said that, true, but we'd all say that wouldn't we...in a - 'the older I get the better I was' way.
If it was Kendall he'd be saying just the same to Harvey - human nature innit.

Here's my take, having seen them all.

1st: Dead heat; 69-70 & 84-85
3rd: Shorthead; 62-63
4th: Half a Length; 86-87

Solving the Dead Heat thingy. I've gone with snooker...bear with me, it'll become clearer-ish

Over a big total, say 39 or 41 frames (42 games back then)
84-85 would sneak it 20-19 (IMHO)
Why's that Degs?
Well,
69-70 would score most of the 147's / big frames.
84-85 would win the close frames, the knarly ones, the one ball, snooker ones - they just hated to lose that bit more.

Close I know, but we have a winner...just.

Disclaimer; Well degsy which one would you go and watch given a free trip in the TARDIS?

69-70 all day long...throw in decent beer and proper music - No Contest.

I'd go for 84/85 just for the cup runs. Wrapping the League Title up with games to spare, with two Cup Finals coming up at the end of May. Can't imagine how exciting that must have felt at the time.

tbh I enjoyed and appreciated the mid 80's better for having lived through all shight that came before... I was a more well rounded person, there was nothing I couldn't do, there was nothing we couldn't achieve...not withstanding the fact that we both 'ked it up totally, but that's Everton...and Degsy for that matter

There were ups and downs from/in the Carey years when I started. Then we won the league, It was officially the 60's, then we won the cup...it was still the 60's, then we won the league...and it wasn't the 60's any more...responsibility beckoned, which put a damper on things

But your first love is always the sweetest.
