Yes, I'll always remember reading about Lawton's testimonial at Goodison in the early seventies. He said when he walked onto the pitch and heard all those Evertonians chanting his name it brought a tear to his eye and he realised he never should have left.

He did a prison sentence for bankruptcy, that testimomonial which Joe Mercer and others put on with great support from Everton fans on a wet evening in a great turn out hardly scrcthed his debts- a shame he got into such a complex mess financially spending money he never had .......in the first place .......
