….it was the Derrick Man’s job to either climb the boom of the crane, look over and down to the street below or hang from the crane to ‘spot‘ & guide the crane cable to a waiting load in the street below. No CCTV in those days.

I lived just off Everton Brow until 1963 used to see the lodge marching quite often then.

My mistake it's just that the houses there look remarkably like the ones on Shaw Street when I was a child living off Everton Brow.
