Transfer Rumour Olivier Giroud

It's a real tough one this. You can buy the proven finished article in giroud, who let's face it is a class player and will hit the ground running. Alternatively for a similar amount of money, we take a punt on dembele, who is nowhere near the finished article, who is strong, powerful decent scoring record (albeit in a poor league) but has the potential to be a top striker.

got enough promising youngsters already imo. We need to blend them in with players for the here and now that can fast track us to the champions league. Barkley, stones and lukaku were labelled as great potential a couple of years ago ... none of them will be here to help get us to qualify.

I've been very critical of man city's transfer dealings this summer. If they can just buy the finished article at £40m, why are they buying youngsters for that much? The whole point of buying potential is so that you don't spend anywhere near as much, but they seem to have done it all wrong.

the bigger picture is more important than the first two or three games. if he's waiting to see that doesn't mean "obviously" he doesn't want to leave.

He wants us to wait to see how often he gets played before making up his mind. If that doesn't tell you we're second choice I don't know what will.

Our chances of signing him are slim imo and we'd be foolish to wait for him for any length of time.Reports are saying RK wants to know this week, so it doesn't seem like he wants to wait either.

Barring a centre half, I think they have recruited well to be honest mate and definitely see them as favourites for the title. Although mendy and silva are young they are top class players.

All this talk about no pace is draining. Never heard so much rubbish in my life. Liverpool have an abundance of pace - where's that got them?

Some of the greatest teams that have ever graced the field have flourished with players with sublime passing and movement.

I can understand any player wanting to see how the land lies at his present club, but in Giroud's case he must know how Wenger feels about him. It seems he is there only as cover if Sanchez goes.
To me he should cut the bull grow a pair and get himself another club to showcase his skills for the French World Cup manager.

I think Giroud loves Arsenal and living in London. It'd be great if we get him but the signals he's giving out make it unlikely.

Think the difference is though mate, Mendy (23yo) and Silva (22yo) for City are past the 'potential' stage now, both are quality players in their own right.

Still a fair whack to pay out like.

Sadly a lot of goals. I hate the RS as much as anyone, but they are devastating going forward. The reason it 'hasn't got them' anywhere is their porous defence and poor goalkeeper.

So if Giroud is too Londonised for us northern types who is next cab on the rank?
Benteke?
Or is he an untouchable because of his previous?
He's very good in my opinion.
