No way they'd sell him for £40M with prices the way they are - you'd be talking £50-£60M before they'd even entertain the idea. If Benteke was all that, he wouldn't have ended up at Palace. He's a journeyman.

There are plenty of instances of players seeing money and playing time as more fruitful to live with than prestige of the club they play for.

Benteke would have spent a year kicking his heels. Palace come in, offer a huge contract and the chance to be the main man. Understandable why he took it.

I don't think Palace would demand massive money tbh, Siggurdsson single handely kept Swansea up and was lauded whereas Benteke has escaped alot of the medias eye. £40 million or so would do it imo but doubt we'll go for him.

And played a completely different style to what suits Benteke. Like signing Vardy and having him play as a big target man it just isn't going to get the best out of him. Benteke still bagged about 1 in 2.5 for the RS which isn't bad. He scored 1 in 2 at Villa and 15 last season in a poor Palace side.

He's a very good player who doesn't get credit because he once played for that lot. Robbie Keane didn't do it for them and i would have walked through broken glass to have had him in his prime at us.

If Siggurdsson is worth it then so is Benteke mate. We can't attract any proven 15-20 goal a season centre forwards unless we are in the Champions League. I wouldn't have a problem with spending £40-50 million on him as he'll guarantee to recoup us a good 75% of Roms goals.
