It isn't a perception though is it. I would love to see Giroud and if we were a top 6 side, I have no doubts he would already have requested a transfer.
And Benteke's record suggests he is far better than average. He would come here and score 15+ in the league and would suit our style perfectly. And thus far we haven't really signed "average players", excluding Rooney who is at worst good for marketing.
Not being funny, what's the difference between "a top 6 side" and 7th? We still have European football(hopefully), and didn't Pogba sign for United after they finished 7th?

I dont think this will happen, heard a bit of an interview with Wenger before and the jist was him saying about being prepared for players to see out contracts. Whats he got one year? Just cant see us paying much for a player at his age with one year left and he knows if he hangs back for 12 months he can get a fat paycheck from China/USA from a club happy to avoid a fee. Really cant see us getting him now

You never know. When Juve signed Pirlo he was a similar age and not first choice as much for Milan and he helped spark a run of 6 straight titles. Giroud could replace Rom's goals while linking the team better
