At the moment he isn't and Koeman seems to like a quick, hard-working forward (Shane Long at Southampton) and a target man (Pelle) to choose from
He's replicating that here with Sandro and, potentially, Giroud
Giroud has never really had pace, so at the age of nearly 31, he shouldn't really decline too much over the coming couple of years. Hopefully DCL will be able to take over at that point, or else we go shopping for an alternative

If we had Sandro and Benteke up front, I'd be happy.

Siggy seems to work best with a target man to aim at and Sandro would hopefully benefit from the knockdown
I could see Giroud getting 25+ goals/assists in a season.

He's not even halfway. A quarter, maybe. His game is as good as it ever was. His only crime is not being able to displace Alexis Sanchez in the starting eleven of a team, which is something perhaps two players in world football would be actually able to do.
Sanchez looks like handing in transfer request according to reports. Hardly going to let Giroud leave while the Sanchez situation is unresolved.
which is why this will likely drag on a bit.
we'll wait as long as we deem suitable to hold out for Giroud IMO, as he's our no.1 target.
But there will be others lined up.
