Transfer Rumour Olivier Giroud

Classier, better on the ball and more polished. More likely to come to Everton, not to sure. Benteke is at crystal bloody palace, not exactly difficult to poach from.

Not exactly true that he wont be difficult to poach, in fact might be harder to sign benteke than giroud because he is vital to palace, they loose him and relegation is possible (just like gylfi situation) where as giroud is only gonna be a bit prt player at arsenal

I dont think this will happen, heard a bit of an interview with Wenger before and the jist was him saying about being prepared for players to see out contracts. Whats he got one year? Just cant see us paying much for a player at his age with one year left and he knows if he hangs back for 12 months he can get a fat paycheck from China/USA from a club happy to avoid a fee. Really cant see us getting him now

Giroud has 3 years left, Wenger was referring to players running down contracts with that hard line stance of them staying mate.

Giroud would be leaving for game time in a world cup year, been the model pro at Arsenal and backed Wenger 100% and one of the first to do so when ever there's been trouble.

Wenger will let him leave if the player REALLY pushes him to do so, he owes him.

I think we will get Giroud, he needs to be playing to have any chance of a place in the France World Cup squad, it will probably be his last opportunity to play in a World Cup and at 30 he can get a 3 year deal and then go back to France for a final year or two. We look like the perfect fit for him.
The same goes for Sigurdsson, if he stays for another regulation threatened season will he be in the best frame of mind to produce the goods, will another season tarnish him and next year he will be older. If Swansea hang on to him he may keep them in the Premiership but he may not. Sell now and use the money to bring in 3 players who will give them a chance of staying up.
I'm looking for a big week.

How is Giroud at 31 years old going to catapult us anywhere? The bloke is halfway to the knackers yard.

We'll get at least 2-3 years out of him, by which point one or both of Sandro and DCL will hopefully be ready to take the mantle

He's a stop gap who will suit the way we play whilst we develop and improve other players

He makes perfect sense as a target for me

I agree, I think folks are just used to us having a big lump up front for the past few seasons. I'd like to see a change of style up front
I don't mind the big lump type and a player like that is useful very often to be perfectly honest, but Sandro is a striker, yes?
Not saying we don't need another one, and I'd be happy with Giroud, but seriously what's wrong with giving the lad a chance before we've actually written him off as a striker?
