O'Neill Resigns

I miss Big Ron, his commentary was always a joy to listen.

Hes not racist, he made an old school comment and it was taken out of context.

If someone like J Redknapp or someone else for that matter had said that on Sky would it have been seen as an "old school comment"? Me thinks not. He was a professional and should never have said it.

Moyes, who tied down Mikel Arteta's long-term future in a new five-year contract at the weekend, insists he is planning to keep his current squad intact.

"If the club need money we have players we can sell - but we don't, that isn't the case," said Moyes.

"We don't need money. We are happy to keep the squad and move along and I think the team we have has got a really good chance of doing well.

"We have put together a side we want to keep; we think we have a pretty good team and we don't want to get rid of it."

Moyes says the Toffees were keen to keep hold of Spain midfielder Arteta, spurning interest from at least two clubs.

"I think we weren't going to allow it to happen any way," Moyes told Everton's official website.

"We had said that if you do [want to buy him] you are going to have to come to Everton with bags of money because we are not going to sell."

You know why I reckon O'Neil's gone?

Because he's been told that he's not going to get the money for Milner to spend - its going on the Aston Villa debt payoff! Which will basically get them back to how they were financially in 2008!

I concur.

Benitez and now O'Neill out can only be good for us. Let's be frank we've struggled a bit against their sides over the years, and now they must be in a transition phase. Only worry is that spurs and city will nab their best players and become even stronger.

SSN suggest Martin Jol could be the man to take over. O'Neil wasn't bad but splashing out £8.5mill for Reo-Cocker is hardly manager of the month material..

He's also been told there are more players that need to leave. He's was told that they will listen to offers for any player. He was also told he had no money to spend, no matter how much money they receive on transfers. The next player to leave will be Young, most likely to Chelsea.

Bob Bradley is 16/1 to take the manager position. Can't see him leaving a cushy number in the US to do it, but it'd be interesting if he did as he's a good manager for his country.

A Curbishley – 5/1
M Jol – 5/1
S Bilic – 6/1
S McClaren – 8/1
SG Eriksson – 8/1
J Klinsmann – 10/1
D Moyes – 12/1
G Zola – 12/1
A Shearer – 12/1
B Davies – 16/1
G Houllier – 16/1
T Venables – 16/1
B Bradley – 16/1
S Clarke – 16/1
R Di Matteo – 16/1

The moyes odds are total bollocks.

McClaren is my bet, but then who wants to leave a good club for one that has no money. Will depend on how homesick he is. It'll probably be Curbishey.

Good manager, not great. Not sure if I'd give the guy a lot more money in the transfer market, if they have it.

Tend to agree, it will probably be someone out of work already. Who wants to join a club that's selling all of its players?

Bradley still hasn't worked out his contract, but I'm not sure that he'd get a sniff of Villa.

I'm a little worried that they might get a forward thinking manager in.

I'm not a massive fan of O'Neil, I think he's a nice fella, always liked him at Celtic but as a manager I think he's living in the dark ages, a 'backwards' manager in my eyes.

Rumor is he's unlikely to be offered an extension for the US job. I think it's more likely than 16-1 Lerner goes for someone he can relate to and doesn't have a huge ego. Bradley is very well organized and will just go out and manage. It's worth a bet if you ask me.

The american connection would make sense, but with the millions involved, Bradley having no experience of club football in Europe let alone England and him being settled in California with his kids over there - bit of an ask. Would like to see it, just to see how good a manager he really is.

Always impressed me for the US of A.
