Oscar Pistorius trial discussion

Definitely leaning towards him being given bail with strict travel conditions, etc. Cart is gonna be let off because he has no legs.

Pretty sickening tbh. :(

Judge is using a previous case as reasoning to allow him to go on bail. "Exceptional circumstances" He's being bailed.

Blaiming "public outrage" on the prosecution not putting a strong enough case before him. Shifting the blame a bit there.

Here's hoping the prosecution can now put together a strong case for pre-meditated murder and get him sent down when his trial commences.

An absolute disgrace that a man who's shot his girlfriend in cold blood is being able to walk out of a courtroom on bail.

This is obviously what 'justice' is in SA if you're a white multi millionaire.

Booooo.

He best be doing 10 years minimum for cold blooded murder without provocation.

If he is proven to have murdered his girlfriend knowingly then I hope he gets 50 years.

How can somebody be bailed when they just murdered somebody and that in itself is without any doubt? Madness.

Bail is only ever granted in SA for murder cases, under 'exceptional' circumstances.

I can only conclude that 'excpetional' in this case, is the fact that he's a white National icon, with a very healthy bank balance.

For shame.

Because it's not beyond doubt that he murdered somebody. Hence the trial.

Bail is set because he doesn't meet any of the criteria which would be needed to deny bail. E.g. Flight risk, witness intimidation, or likelihood to do harm to himself or others while on bail.

The exceptional circumstance is that South African jails are extremely overcrowded, and because the magistrate thought he didn't meet any of the other reasons to be held, he released him.
