Apparently they were haggling over the fine details of it for ages in a very Everton like manner. Instead Chelsea just came in and said what is his buyout clause, ok here is the money up front.

The delay had also caused Pedro to reconsider whether they were that serious about him anyway (in Utd terms his clause wasn't that expensive) and talking to Valdes/de Gea had made him less keen to work with LVG.

So a bit of both really but they gave Pedro time to reconsider by their faffing around.

Ducker can say what he wants, we're going to get pelted whatever we do. There are no experienced strikers out there worth going for, the best i can see is someone like Higuain who the Napoli chairman will demand 50M for and I'm not convinced is better then Rooney at all. Or we could have stumped up £32M for Benteke. The likes of Lewandowski, Benzema are impossible to get as Arsenal have also found out.

Martial is a big prospect who we've been scouting since he was 14. Apparently Barca have started sniffing around which may have caused us to act now.

Martial whilst a very good player is never worth that much. Smacks of panic buying.

If you wanted Benzema you could have dangled De Gea in front of Perez. He'd probably have been more amenable to that....swapping one pet poodle for another.

Benzema is supposed to be available but Real want £50m+, he's not worth that either. Then again I'm tight and think no player is worth more than £25m

If that deal goes through,it could lead to Bruce leaving. He's already complained about lack of signings, they lost out on Andre Gray,Hernandez is crap and Akpom is not experienced enough to lead the line for an entire season.
