Its been puzzling me for a few days, ever since I heard the figure. (which I may have misheard).

But that Bayern team that has just won the CL, cost £60m.
The team that started against Barca was quoted at costing just less than €100m.

Neuer €30m
Kimmich €8.5m
Boateng €11.5m
Alaba €0.125m
Davies €10.5m
Goretzka Free
Thiago €25m
Gnarby €8m
Muller: academy
Perisic: on loan
Bob: free

There most expensive player, Hernandez, was on the bench costing €80m, but Sule €20m, Tolisso €41.5m, Coutinho €8.5m loan deal and Coman €21m.

While they're notorious for tapping people up on free transfers and loan deals within Germany, you've got to give their scouting and frugality a big applause.

Compare it with the silly prices that we've paid for bang average to dross, and you can't help feel a bit sad.

they sold Hazard and Morata for 150m, They're absolutely balling.

that’s what people forget. They’ve also just got rid of Willian and Pedro too. They’ll probably offload two centrebacks as well in Christensen and Rudiger/Zouma that would bring in 50 mill.

They’ve recruited extremely well so they always have a lot of high quality players they don’t need which they can sell to offset the FFP problems. They could go out now and sell Abraham, Hudson Odoi, Loftus Cheek, Barkley, Reece James, Tomori, and it would barely affect their first team but would probably recoup the money they’ve just shelled out.

As long as Lampard doesn’t mess up as manager they are seriously stacked for a tilt at the title.

Different markets though. Bayern know they can afford to wait because nearly any German player will want to play for them. Similarly they can offer top players at other clubs a starting spot and guaranteed title wins and CL football so these players are willing to agitate for a move or Run their contracts down.

We have to overpay to get players in to Everton.

It's an impressive list that started the game, but don't look at in isolation.....

tosillo - £37m
Sule £18m
Renato Sanches £32m
Lucas henrnandez - £72m
Pavard - £31m

It's not as if they are shaking the poor box around. It does tell an interesting story of how cost doesn't ensure quality, as we no better than anyone

they’ve also just bought Sane for a lot as well.

They have become a very well run, effective club. There's a lot of talk of us trying to emulate early Chelsea, or even Manchester City, I'd be quite happy to get to modern day Chelsea. Very competent people throughout the club, a strong academy and high expectations of winning.

They are really under the radar currently. The inly thing I'd be concerned about is Lampard. A big jump for him to win it. If they had Ancelotti in charge I'd think they had a really good chance.

Liverpool fans are starting to get really irritated and dismissive of them, which tells you they are a seriously challenger.

The issue is wages too. We are obviously programmed to look at frees, but look at the agents fees, sign on fees and wages that are paid to those frees. Our loveables across the park are very good at going "10 million for Minamino", yes throw in the agent fee and sign on fee when you exploti a loophole in contract and it often works out at more than double that cost (it certainly did with Haaland).

That being said, Bayern have done very well. They are a super club, very much the Manchester United of Germany, and to be quite frank would absolute p1ss our league if they played in it last season.

Problem is...too many signings and it may not work.

Got to remember how is Lamps gonna get them to play as a unit, get the best out of them etc. While I think they're looking strong, I won't be all that surprised if it doesn't entirely work out straight away

their potential first 11 looks strong though.

Kepa

Azpilicueta Silva Sarr Chilwell

Kante Kovacic

Ziyech Havertz Pulisic

Werner

That’s a title winning 11 if Lampard can get them to gel.

A pretty much entirely new team. On paper looks great. But wholesale changes take time to gel especially a whole new back 4...

And they need a new keeper.

Nice to see their vaunted academy project under Lampard lasting one enforced season haha.

Was always gonna be absolute faux media love in with that.

The minute they had a wobble, Lamps questioned all the youth players being good enough...then the club went out and bought players to replace them
