Paul Pogba will become Jose Mourinho's fourth signing at Manchester United
Paul Pogba is essentially a Manchester United player again four years after he left the club in acrimonious circurmstances to join Juventus.

Reports suggest United have completed their deal for Pogba which is going to break the world transfer record and make him the first £100m footballer in history.

According to the Daily Record, sources close to the deal say the move was finally agreed on Wednesday with United paying a fee of £108.9m.

Express Sport tracks Manchester United target Paul Pogba on Instagram as he enjoys an extended holiday before the start of the 2016/17 season

Juventus will receive £83.8m of that payment with an astonishing £25.1m going to the 23-year-old’s agent Mino Raiola to cover a 30 per cent sell-on clause he is owed.

Raiola negotiated Pogba’s move from United to Juventus in 2012, which sparked a backlash from then manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Express Sport understands Pogba will sign a long-term contract at Old Trafford worth around £275,000 a week.

It seems all that is left is for United to officially announce the deal, with Pogba due to return from his holiday in the United States shortly.

And last night a fan posted a picture with Pogba in New York, with the France midfielder giving both thumbs up and a toothy grin.

“Having fun with La Pioche aka @paulpogba last night thanks for stopping by ! #fff #pogba #paulpogba #france #newyork #pogboom,” Instagram user Simon Sebbah posted.

Pogba is due back for training with Juventus on Sunday, but could fly straight to Manchester from New York to start his second spell at United.

He is unlikely to play in United’s Community Shield showpiece against Leicester at Wembley on Sunday (4pm), but could watch from the stands.

United boss Jose Mourinho hinted earlier this week he wants to tie up the Pogba deal before his side’s Premier League opener at Bournemouth on Sunday August 14.

"We are going to sign one more player that's for sure," Mourinho said before Wayne Rooney's testimonial on Wednesday night.

"I don't want to speak about Paul because he's a Juventus player and I don't like other managers to speak about my players and I don't speak about their players.

"The reality is we’re going to sign one more player, the market closes, as you know, August 31.

"So, we have plenty of time to do that but I would like to do that before the Premier League starts."

And United legend Rio Ferdinand has backed the move to bring Pogba back despite the eye-watering amounts of money involved.

“I speak to Paul,” said Ferdinand. “I know him. He’s someone for whom it’s all about football. It’s not about money.

“Similarly, when I signed for Manchester United, the biggest things for me and my family weren’t the money. It was ‘What’s Giggsy like? What’s Keane like?’

“Paul’s like that. He loves football. It’s all about improving and being the best. When he left I asked him why and he said ‘I want to be the best player in the world’. He’s on the right track.

Pogba left United for Juventus four years ago in controversial circumstances
“The kid at the moment in a Juventus shirt produces magic moments, moments of high class, game-changing moments. For £100m, you want someone who’s going to develop into someone who can dictate a game, can win games on his own, can drag his team over the line.

“I think he’s got the potential to do that – but he’s not there yet.

“If he goes there for £100m, stays there and they win five out of 10 trophies, you’ll look back and say ‘Well done, good business’.”

No mate. I don't really do aways outside the smoke anymore - i live near the south coast so i do Southampton etc. Might start again when I retire though. Still do a few European always. One or two a season.

See who we get in the CL draw!

If we don't win the League this season (Very little chance of us winning it like, but best to think positive) I'd like you guys to win it

Primarily because I like a lot of your players and enjoy the way they play, but also because Arsenal Fan TV would be a thing of beauty lol

stupid money for pogba, he's not even worth half that. If you're thinking they could have bulked up the squad with 3 players of top calibre like your silvas, agueros, sanchez's etc. Get one of each for defence, midfield and up front. The squad looks a whole more solid. Luckily for them mourinho can organise a defence, no matter who's on the paper, could this be his greatest challenge yet though? Not exactly many good defenders to work with there, thought he would have brought in a couple of wiser heads instead of £30m on a youngster like bailly (who?)

Porto must have been his biggest challenge surely?

Since then he's had big clubs with big budgets (I'd say that Porto are a big club, but their budget certainly wasn't)

Winning the Champions League with an outsider like Porto trumps any success he'll have at Man United. I'd be shocked if that entire Porto team came to the value of Pogba's transfer fee, and that's with taking inflation into account as well

i meant regarding the defensive aspect. That's a fairly weak defence and it's not really, and doesn't seem to be looking like strengthening. But he's so good at that aspect it may not even matter what 4 names are put in front of de gea.

We've signed Papy Djilobodji (who I hear yous say) for £8m from Chelsea can't see it being £8m upfront my guess is a few add ons in there but who cares we finally made a signing :drunk:
