Im not judging him yet....

However its important to note that he referenced his desire to come to England because his wife was working in Manchester.

So if he wasnt a success it would not be easy to sell him (at least not overseas).

It sounds like hes a 'workhorse' type player and very ungainly due to having no professional coaching in his teens...

Sounds an interesting mix to me...i also highly doubt we would pay £13.5mil on a below average player without extensive scouting. If theres one thing Martinez is good at its having and getting long term targets and one could even say hes perhaps more stubborn than Moyes in that regard.

Hes clearly going to be a 2nd choice forward for us and i dont think its a fitness issue with him now but i think its more of a difference in his playing style not being used to the pace in our league....due to his career so far i think its a case of him needing a season to adapt but also probably someone we can see has massive potential and are treating him like a youth player coming through.

All the noises coming out of Russia are that he was top notch.....and didn't you all drool over his YouTube montage?
I would think there are so many safeguards these days with all the scouting technology to ensure a 'duffer' doesn't slip through the net.
I'd rather not listen to conjecture and rumour from so-called sources and wait to see the lad after 10 games or so. How many rumours float around each day on the web and in the rags and how many of them actually have any semblance of reality? If even a small percentage of them had any truth in them we'd have sold the whole squad in the last 3 years to United and Chelsea.
I'd wait and see before writing him off and give the lad the benefit of the doubt. If he is pants then a lot of you will be happy in that it'll be another pile of added pressure on the manager you want rid of....so it's a win-win for lots of forum dwellers.....we either have a belter of a player or there's another stick to beat the manager.

You would think so but plenty of transfers have failed before and they will again. It is worrying that Martinez thinks he's only 50/60% ready after 2 months of training. You would expect a £13m player to be good enough to have some impact within 2 months.

He was not good enough for Brann in the Norwegian league, and not even for their reserve squad. Of course, much may have changed, but with that price tag and his history, he would always be a gamble.

Not going to judge the kid yet as it's a big step up for him, but someone at Everton should be held accountable for having a player here for over 2 months who is still only at 50/60%. Whether that's the manager or the fitness staff or both I don't know but we can't be having players costing 13m getting splinters on their arse because they are not fit enough. He should have been given run outs in the u21 games if he's so severely lacking fitness.

Or run outs at Southport, absolutly no excuse.

It's the lack of playing time given that opens the poor kid up to criticism and Martinez coming out saying he's only 50/60% opens him and his staff up to more criticism.

If he's crap, sound let's move on but ffs give him a run out or bloody loan him out. I can't for the life of me think he's just not putting any effort in to get fit as you would imagine he would be desperate to prove himself and show the fans what he can do.

I'm not judging him yet but... waffle, waffle, waffle, Mathinez, Martinez, obscure reference to team I know nothing about, Martinez, surely by now, waffle, waffle... judgment.

Two months to get fit, and to be honest he should not have been that unfit as he had played up to the winter break. The lad should be up and running and getting game time by now, if he is not fit or just not good enough then we have a big problem. A club like Everton even with new investment can't be wasting £13mil on people who don't contribute to the first team squad..
