No mate he seemed to think (or at least say!) that he'd be ready sooner rather than later.

“He’ll need a little bit of time to understand the Premier League, with the tempo and all the new aspects of the league,” Martinez said.

Thanks. Everybody makes mistakes but this mistake is a head-scratcher. What could have RM seen in him?

He did not watch him live. He was bought on recommendations from a previous scout then employed by EFC

Martinez bought him on the recommendations of a scout who no longer works for the club. The deal was made much earlier than announced.

That's as much as I can share.

Just had a look again at what Martinez said:

One thing I also can't understand is how the club in general have frozen him out of marketing too. If he's done something really bad or unforgivable then he would be sacked as @evertony says above, but then why is he not in any articles or reports. No photos or headlines for his hat trick shows that he's been officially frozen out.

Yeah of course not. By the looks of it he has been a pretty average player with a few purple patches during his career.
