2017/18 Oumar Niasse

At the end of the season they’ll show goals by Hazard, De Bruyne etc illustrated by how they used their sublime skills a number of times in their goal. For me yesterday was Oumar’s goal of the season, it had everything we love about him. The header on from Kenny’s throw ten yards inside his own half and out on the right; charging after their GK 40 yards away on the left; getting dummied by the GK and laughed at by their crowd; still pressing the goalie even though he’s got no chance; running back into an onside position while Lukaku would have sauntered back staying offside;when the ball came back to him calmly slotting it home and even watching the replays I’m still worried he’s going to miss control it with his left and miss. Then the big Oumar smile in celebration whereas lesser mortals would be running at the Palace fans cupping his ears to mock them.
No wonder Palace fans are unhappy, but for a trick of fate or whatever he’d be scoring goals for them and likely our league positions would be reversed.

Great analysis of what will be a very underrated goal outside Evertonia but was actually one of the best goals ever scored for all the reasons you mention.

Of course.

I've heard that nobhead Shearer hundreds of times saying "if a defender is that stupid to leave a foot there I'm going to punish that stupidity".

It's all bollocks.

It's a penalty all day long though. I don't even understand the discussion on it. It's clear obstruction.

I'm not one for the blue-tinted spectacles - if it's a dive, I call it a dive. But this one isn't even a "soft" pen; he's cut across him and made no attempt for the ball.

Yeah, you can clearly see Dann's arm across Niasse'schest which impedes him, clear foul and none of this ridiculous "he made the most of it" rubbish.

I can see why the ref called it. Is it light for a premier league penalty? Yes. But thats also because premier league refs rarely actually follow the rules. If you watch it full time, Dann makes no attempt at the ball, shoves his shoulder in there very fast and pulls out, also making no attempt to continually ride him of the ball. Its just a hip and shoulder check, which lets face it, the ref would have called a foul of Davies did at the half way line to one of their players.

Regardless, thats now 7 goals Niasse has created this season.

Yet to see a striker playing for any team that doesn't go down easy in the box to try and win his team a penalty. Some like to do 15 rolls and cart wheels. There was no dive, just a willingness to tumble brought on by definite contact. Niasse new it and felt it and so went down exactly same as anyone else would/does. It was trademark Niasse. It is what he does, gets in defences faces and causes confusion and mayhem.

The contact was there and so there shouldn't be any action/ban imposed by the FA after their weekend reviews.
