2017/18 Oumar Niasse

It reeks of purposeful selection for me, was never going to be a CL club, let’s do the first one on a lower to mid table team with a relatively high profile, also a player who doesn’t play for a England and doesn’t have a high media profile. Niasse at Everton seems like a nice guy, who doesn’t say anything bad about anyone.

I’ve seen about 20 more obvious dives then Niasse this season.

He’s definitely a mark.

That is the problem. Royal Blue Mersey posted a vid of several other clear dives from earlier this season, all without penalty. Or rather, the diver got the PK, and faced no penalty after the fact.

As an American, I've given up on the NBA as it is a complete joke in which some players/teams get called for breathing whereas marketable players from top teams could go "Last Boyscout" and shoot someone in the head on the court and not get charged with a foul. The Prem's start is auspicious at best.

I wonder if Paddy Power will make a $50 bet as to whether or not a BIG NAME PLAYER from a BIG NAME TEAM gets booked for it this year? Because we all know they won't. Aguero can do his Greg Louganis impression all campaign long and not have to worry.

Agree mate. I was saying earlier, there have been a fair few other cases of diving this season, but they all went unpunished, up until Niasse. Now I haven't got a problem with the FA setting up this panel to cut out the diving, the problem is them being fair, and consistent, these 2 things I have no faith in the FA to carry out though.

Yes it was a blatant dive

It was just about as cynical as what Dann did. He was fouled in the box. No question.

Would he have been awarded the penalty had he not gone down??? This is the question the sport needs to be asking itself.

How much has years of dreadfully inept officials contributed to this cynical behaviour?

Peter Crouch raised the issue. The referee has the power to let play continue & award the foul when no advantage is gained. They do it regularly. So why do they never do that in the box? If the attacker is fouled, but stays on his feet & his shot is saved, why can’t the ref give a penalty? That would be consistent & stamp out the diving.

We have appealed the FA charge. Having only just seen the incident, and I always look at these things with an open mind.
There is a clear obstruction and if he had not hit the first defender the second defender would have taken him out. But I also don’t see the dive he does go down easily but I bet the appeal team will have a good lot of footage to bring to the appeal that shows he is being harshly treated.

He is going to be the measuring stick for all future dives on pens given, the fa have embarrassed themselves leaving it until late November before telling everyone that's the only dive a ref didn't see.
