If Owen will take the pay-cut and believes in the club as us the supporters do, then why shouldn't we try to sign him... but there again haven't we had our fingers burnt before...In my opinion he still is one of the best goalscorers around if given the service and chances.

I've never really liked him as a player, if he's not scoring he doesn’t offer you much more like assists ect.

Just feel it would be a step in the wrong direction, to get your moneys worth out of him, he needs to be in goal scoring form and playing regularly, and looking at his injury record that'd be unlikely.

Our next step is to break into the top four and we shouldn't really be looking at players that wouldn't make it into their teams if we want to compete with them.

I'd rather we go all-out to try and secure Jo, but if we can't do that then Owen would be good - but he's have to take a massive paycut.

Can't really see it happening myself, but there are far worse players we could sign.

People saying high wages, bottom line is he will not be signing for us if he demands a high wage. So the question should be would you sign owen on a free for wages around Artetas/Cahills? For me the answer is yes.

Interesting vote - 50/50

Interesting mate. Signing Jo, a player who seems unable to only score at Goodison in favour of a player with a proven goalscoring record. If Owen was fit for lengthy spells. i would choose him over Jo. The problem is, will Owen ever play a decent proportion of games throughout a season!

No he wouldn't. So Jo would be a better choice if we could afford him. But we can't so we will have to move on.

I have a feeling Moyes will make his move for Wagner Love, at least he would score both home and away.

No to owen. (n) I think we've been shopping smart, so we should continue.

Owen's best days are over, and his wages demands are way over what he's worth.

Owen would be a setback to what Moyes has accomplished at Everton, NOT a step forward.

Simple really.

Move on.

NSNO said BK had a rumour that Moyes has already met Owen and it's a done deal. I asked my Dad if he had bumped into the Owens recently and if he knew anything and he said he's not seen them around for a while.

Owen makes, what, £100k/week at least? Over 3 years that would cost us £16m. He'd be 32, and there's no doubt in my mind that his best days would be a distant memory.

I don't know what sort of wages it would take to secure Jo, but even if he matches our top playes (say £50k/week) that would cost £7.8m in wages. If we can get him for £10m, he in 3 years we could have a player approaching him prime with a resale value of perhaps two or three times what we paid for him.

If we are to continue to close the gap to the Sky 4, we MUST outmanourve them in the transfer market, because we simply cannot compete financially. This means having to buy players on their way up. It's really that simple. If we simply buy cast off players whose best days are behind them then we'll just end up like... Newcastle.
