I understand some of you dont like Owen because he played for liverpool and newcastle, but you got to admit he brings something different to the players we already have, he is a goalpoacher, altough not very tall and injury prone.

Obviously we all want the best players for our team but realistically we can't beacuase of the lack money. so if we wan't to bring Moutinho, signing someone like Owen who is on a free and would surely contribute, then he is a very good option.

In a perfect world we would be able to bring Edin Dzeko, Moutinho, M'bia, Glen Jonhson and Eljero Elia, but guess what this is not a perfect world. Best case scenario we end up signing only one of those guys.

Let's go and get Owen (y)

I couldn't care less if he played for Liverpool.

He's a walking sick note, and I wouldn't waste 50k a week on him to sit on the side lines every week.

I'd rather keep Saha any day of the week.

Owen has played, and scored more than Saha in recent seasons.

Owen scored 10 times in 31 games this season - if he replicated that for us, he would have been our leading goalscorer. The season before that, 13 times in 31 games.

As said earlier, he also would make us a more attractive proposition to investors.

He may well have done. But who ever it is we sign/keep, is going to be 2nd fiddle to Yakubu.

Saha is settled, obviously doesn't want a 'break the bank' wage, and a good old Moysey pre season in him, heel score next season without a doubt. Unless he gets injured again........

Perhaps too settled?

Saha or Owen? - Owen every time - without a doubt. Why? - He scores more goals.

I would be happy with Owen.

If Owen stays injury free he has the potential to be a 20 goal man, Saha probably only 10+, Owens a crock but Sahas a bigger crock (y)

Last time Saha got a run of games for Man utd he scored something crazy like 15 in 15. If they started the same amount of games (Owen and Saha) I'd back Saha everytime, especially in our system.

Plus Saha is a far more rounded striker, as is Yakubu. Owen is simply a finisher and I think people will see the difference compared to Yak and Saha when he arrives.

He is less injury prone than Louis, I'll give you that.

I really have a problem understanding how anyone can say Owen is superior to Saha. Owen's trick is to hand around the goal, and sneak in and score (every 3 games). Saha moves around, he playes midfield, he assists and he scores. The fact is, if we keep Saha relatively fit, we have no need for Owen.

We need to move on from the likes of Owen. We've got excellent back-up in Vaughan and Saha, so it's pretty pointless bringing in more. Let's put that £50k a week to better use.

fully agree, this signing is 5 years to late, £50k a week should be used to securing moutinho's wages.
