Better than Yakubus rate this year isn't it?

Yes it is. Better than all our strikers records this year.

If Owen he to play infront of our midfield though he wouldn't score goals, especially upfront on his own.

That's a big reason why I wouldn't want him. There's no doubting he's a talented goalscorer but with our midfield behind you any striker would struggle.

I wouldn't buy another striker until we get a proper midfield. Yakubu is better than Owen and even he's struggling.

People complain about his wages, but Yakubu cost us 11.5 mil and maybe on 50k a week.

Over 3 years that adds to 19 mil.

If Owen comes for 3 mil and 100k a week for 3 years he'd cost 18mil.

Now I would like to see him here considering our current options, coz he has always scored goals and there is definitely 3 more years left in him IF he says fit.

But if we don't go for him how much is a decent premiership striker nowadays? FFS we sold AJ for 10.5 mil.

So we would have to take a gamble on a lower leaguer (is Lee Trundle still available?) or get a decent striker for little or no money and pay them decent wages.

Obviously if we do get owen and pay him anywhere north of 80k, some of our senior players, Cahill, Arteta, Yobo might get green eyes

There is no way any of the current Everton management would EVER sanction 80k+ for any player, let alone Michael Owen.

If they even gave the impression they were thinking about it I'd withdraw my...
Well ok, I'd stop breathing until I went RED. At least THEY have the sense to know he's not worth arse.

Owens a good striker, good work rate, great finishing, good positioning, great heading - and why dont people want to sign him? Too old - and losing his touch? Well hes younger than Saha - and most likely younger than Yakubu too. How exactly has he lost his touch?

To not JUMP at the offer of £3 million is ridiculous. Even if he was the highest payed player at the club - we still wouldnt lose much money from the bargain of the transfer! As shown by Bumper31. A proven finisher for £3 million at his boyhood club. What could be better.

Are you sure about that? Ask Newcastle fans, he's not hardworking at all.

I do think he is a good player, a great finisher but he's not for us. Why? This is why:

1. We can't afford his wages and why would we want to pay a player 80 grand a week for a player who is no better than our other strikers. If we gave him that type of money then other players would want that type of money.

2. Where exactly would he fit in? He can't play as a lone striker and that is our best formation. He's not a player who can create his own chances and he needs a side built around him.

We are not a creative side, until we get a proper midfield Owen would be a worthless signing. Atleast Yakubu and Saha can offer physical presence and some link up play. Nowadays Owen is just a finisher, a very good one to be fair to him.

If he was willing to be paid 40-50 grand a week I'd take him. I can't see that happening though.

Fair enough i can see where you are coming from - good striker - but without a midfield hes nothing special...

...But if our midifeld played like they did against Tottenham - with Arteta in the center n all that - the good passing play - would you want to buy him?

If he dropped his wage then yes, without a doubt.

I'd take him on a loan, with appearance fees but that's about it. Too injury prone, best years behind him, he also doesn't seem to give a [Poor language removed] about club football anymore.
