EVERTON manager David Moyes will try to tempt Michael Owen from Newcastle in next month’s transfer window.
And if Newcastle refuse to release the England striker before the summer, Moyes will try again at the end of the season to sign a player he almost landed last August.
Moyes desperately needs a 20-goal a season striker to replace Yakubu, who looks like missing the rest of the season after rupturing his Achilles tendon.
And Owen is the man Moyes believes can spark his attack alongside former Manchester United forward Louis Saha.
The problem for Moyes is Owen’s huge wage packet – he is on £110,000-a-week at Newcastle.
But as The Sunday Express revealed, unsettled Owen is prepared to take a pay cut to secure a move in the New Year.
