Panorama to question ownership of Everton

A company's officers have a fiduciary duty to take best care of the company's assets. Legally reducing a company's tax-bill
may be argued to be a responsibility of a company's officer and using off-shore vehicles that meet legal requirements are a legitimate tactic.

As an individual too, if you have assets that can be protected from a high-taxing government, then you would be nuts not to consider off-shore vehicles.

What you say is true, but there is a difference between legal obligations and moral obligations.

I can understand why a government would do a deal with a company like Apple. 1000s of job’s & an albeit small percentage of a massive tax pot. If we didn’t do it, another country would, etc...

Wages going directly to an offshore fund, as in the case of Mrs Brown, that needs to be closed immediately. Besides, I’ve only seen seconds of that show, but surely they should be in prison for that alone?

Riddle me this... if your employer (presuming they are private) starting making huge profits because of a new product / service they were selling and looked into incorporating offshore to mimimise their tax expediture to make the most of this new income and existing income. While doing so they consulted with yourself and the other staff, because they are morally fine corporation. During the consultation they say that in this new structure it would mean an extra 10% / 15% / 20% net salary increase for everyone working for the company, maybe better benefits, maybe an increase annual bonus, extra days holiday for staff, increase in dividends from the free shares you've been given during your years of loyalty to the company?

Would you complain and protest the morality of what they were doing? Reject the plan and the possible upsides for yourself, colleagues and the business? I'm going to say no.

The Everton Arsenal section was in there purely for publicity, it didn’t relate to the rest of the 90 minute programme and was quickly resolved with the guardian amending an article to say they have been shown documents showing Moshiri eventually paid Epion (Usmanov) for the stake in Arsenal.

Nothing to see here at all

Probably not, but then again, my greed is greater than my morals ;)

At the end of the day. No one has done anything illegal. Its up to any government to change the laws. They wont . Because some of them do the same thing. Who cares about morales ?
