Benitez still a shout for anyone?

In a way would be much less of a risk than Fonseca or Emery due to PL experience and undoubtedly a very good manager.

Yes of course he managed them lot, but I’m certainly one of those who can see last that, and imagine how great it would be if he was a success with us and beat them in the Derby.
We should have appointed him instead of Koeman. We had a chance to launch the project with a Real Madrid manager who'd won the Champs L, Europa L, 2 La Liga's an FA cup and who was available without compo.
Instead we blew our best chance in decades, and paid a fortune, for someone who outside the very weak Dutch league had won almost nothing in a long managerial career.
Utterly insane decision to pass up such an incredible opportunity for political reasons and the single biggest factor influencing why the project has been such a disaster we had to SOS Sam.

Well the RS are in for Fellaini so why not reciprocate and have one of theirs?

Benitez has never and will never be a shout to take our job.
Evertonians are a brilliant fanbase. Tens of thousands turning up for decades to support the team.
That loyalty is based on passion and tribalism not logic for who would invest so much in a trophy less team of 20+ years?
It's that tribal passion that says we don't want ex red Raffa. I respect that but for me I'm sick of following a club that never wins.
I wanted to maximise the chances of success so Rafael was hands down the best choice. There are no guarantees just probabilities.
Based on their careers Rafael was vastly more likely to deliver success than RK and it's probable with him we'd now be at least threatening to overtake Arsenal and win a cup instead of being proudly led to the 40 point mark by a relegation survival expert.

I remember this very well . A poll was once conducted among evertonians abt their priorities . And winning a trophy was fifth .. behind getting a new stadium . So i think we r pretty patient and we can wait a few more years .. but personally i dont want a RS manager whose posters i see at every matchday at anfield . For me , say no to Rafael . And he himself also has never shown any inclination for working with us . Why this debate keeps coming i dont know

TBF, I couldn’t care if he was - hypothetically - our manager and did a League, FA Cup and Champions League treble.

The fact is he’d still love and be loved by the club we all hate the most.

Completely moot this, Benitez would never ever come here. Also..I for one dislike the man far more than BS and I dislike BS loads...
'Small cloob'...nah no ta. He can take his winning mentality, cups won and....and his fat Red face..and stand in front of a bull !!

I think it's 2 years too late now as the momentum and the Lukaku/Stones money has been squandered.
He'd still be a good appointment though and get us back on track with some time and money. He's done a top job at Newcastle with almost no money and a relegation level team and delivered another trophy.
Not going to happen though. We'll take a much bigger gamble on a more glamourous and younger appointment it seems. Fingers crossed it'll come good.

Rafael has been finished since 2007, flopped at Madrid and Inter whilst being disliked at Chelsea. He’s taken Newcastle up and kept them up but even Allardyce could have managed that. His football belongs in 2005. He’d be another Koeman spraying money about on rubbish because he wouldn’t even care.

Most reds would have turned on him. That's football. Look at how Mourinho is treated at Chelsea.
The big question is could he ever have won over Evertonians.
If he'd initially done some PR and apologised for the small club comment and eventually we'd beat the RS and perhaps won a cup then maybe most would have come round.
We'll never know now.
