It’s actually genius by Moshiri in appointing Allardyce he’s virtually guaranteed that the fan base will be completely united over whoever succeeds him as he can’t be much worse.

In a way mourinho at united has benefitted hugely by lvg and Moyes appointments prior to him, his style of play wouldn't have been accepted by them straight after fergie, but after those two they're now giving him a lot more time and putting up with a style of play they wouldn't have prior.

I’d love this guy, but I feel he is destined for an Inter Milan or someone like that.

As for Silva I hope we don’t go for him, he’s done nothing in the PL.

If we want him as our first choice we'll get him mate, unless shaktar knock out Roma and then do something in the quarters, in which case all bets are off.

Would love Fonseca. Although I was really excited about Martinez and Koeman when they were appointed and that didn't turn out too well.

The one problem of attracting the best managers is that we aren't the catch that we were this time last year. Spent an obscene amount of money and yet the only one or two that are worth keeping at the moment are Pickford and Gylfi. Dare I say it, I would love to see Klaason given a run but I fear his Everton career is over.

Wouldn't go that far. At the point he signed the contract we had jist cone off the back of shipping four at Southampton and were 2 points off the bottom 3. We were looking to make sure we didn't go down.

The appointment has been more or less what we should have expected - we'll stay up but we won't enjoy any of it, but we'll stay up and that's all the board cared about at that point (and considering the context of the mess we seemed to be spiralling into, it's hard to suggest this was an unreasonable decision)

Any wait til the whole thing is over though

Disagree mate. I'll stick with what I originally said the minute he was touted for the Everton job. A woeful decision which only produced more questions than answers when it comes to the mindset of Moshiri and his decision making. Going for the likes of Silva and Fonseca who play a completely different style of football than Allardyce says to me he was throwing darts on the dark and hoping one of them hopefully landed on Bullseye.

I'll absolutely agree that going from Silva and Fonseca (and it was subsequently revealed we approached Tuchel too) to Allardyce is baffling as Fonseca/Silva would have been seen as progressive appointments whereas the Allardyce appointment was/is a temporary measure and a means to an end. That said, given the predicament we were in I'm not sure the Fonseca appointment would have been the prudent one back then which is why I accept the Allardyce decision until the end of the season - but, he needs to be dispensed with as soon as the season is over and I'm all for Fonseca at that point

Similar to our left back conundrum I believe. None available in January that represented a fair value for money. So go with what we have (that will suffice) and go back in the summer for a permanent successor.
