Phil Jagielka

Throughout 2015 Jagielka has been brilliant. What i like most now is his aggression in winning the ball, first noticed it at Southampton AWAY and he & Stones bullied Pele and attacked the ball everytime, he done the same again yesterday. He's been one of, if not the best English centre half in the PL for a few years now and doesnt get anywhere near the praise he deserves from both Everton fans and those outside the Club.

Spot on. He should be starting for England before Cahill and smalling

I can't really weigh in on his attributes as a captain, since that's something only the players can judge, but as a centre half he's probably been one of the best in the league thus far this season. This might be the best form I've ever seen him in.

he had a great game today, kudos .. he was everything need him to be, long may it continue because if we are to win anything / qualify for Europe we need Jagielka at his best.

You often say that those who are anti-martinez have an agenda, that they can't see the qualities he has and brings.

Yet you do the exact same thing with Jagielka.

It's all a bit strange mate, in a hypocritical sort of way.
I dont say he's bad, I say we can do better. He's a fine stopper. He's just not the best with the ball at his feet and he's not a good captain from an organisational point of view. Apparently Mori does like to tell people around him to get into position, so that's going to be interesting.

I've been very impressed by how much Jags has improved with the ball at his feet. It's there for all to see. He's looked extremely composed lately.

He's not Brambellatrocious, no. He's an England CB so he's bound to have something about him in that respect.

TBH, my main gripes with Jagielka are that he can lose form for weeks at a time and that he's as quiet as a mouse on the pitch. I just dont buy into him as being fundamental to what we do.

I think Jags is at his best when he trusts his partner in defence. He was great alongside Lescott. He was good with Distin (until last season) and he regained his best form when Stones was brought back in last season.

I've been really impressed with him this season. Long may it continue.

Slotted seamlessly into the left sided position of the central two, showing his class and ability.

You couldn't get that with Terry, Ferdinand, Carragher or Cahill. @davek
Yeah, he has been flexible in that respect. He has his qualities, I know that. He'll never be a captain for me. I think I'd like him more if it was taken by someone else. On the pitch he's not a great leader. He should be given his status for club and country, but he's a bit of a wallflower.
