....what a good pro this fella is. Helped his country qualify for major tournaments on more than one occasion only to be left out of the final squad. As soon as the tournaments were over, he's called up again. He never complains, he never retires from international football. I remember the furore from a reds fans when Carragher wasn't getting a game for England, he threw his dummy from the pram.

Jagielka quietly gets on with things, I suspect he's widely admired in the game.
So glad he got to go to Brazil and was first choice.

Know it all went pear-shaped with Jags and Baines shouldering an unfair proportion of the fallout.

However playing in a World Cup in Brazil is a once in a lifetime achievement for a footballer and one that in future years I'll guess he'll be pleased he had.

Just thought I'd put out a mention for our mr dependable. Obviously our rom and all our new players are getting most of the plaudits for great performances but jags hardly put a foot wrong as usual. Looking forward to seeing his partnership with Williams get better and better

You are right of course. The defence as a whole looked pretty solid last night and both Jags and Williams made important blocks. I like it when we don't have to talk about the defence though..........

I mentioned him this morning in the Williams thread. These two old foxes will be bringing the absolute best out of each other because just like when a striker is buzzing for scoring, these kind of defenders get the same buzz with a clean sheet.

He's always been under appreciated in my opinion macca and his under stated manner hasn't helped him in that regard. Im a big fan though mate and reckon we could see his best years yet with his new partner

Absolutely. Two rock solid defenders who relish a tackle and love getting blocks in. They'll both be desperate not to give a single goal away, even if we're winning by a hefty margin.

If them, along will Gueye and Lukaku stay injury free we'll have a storming season.

Was gutted for him when he did his knee before the FA cup final, his performances were key in us getting to that final, and for him and Arteta to then miss it was very cruel. He has had spells for us where he's been as good as anyone else in the league. Love a good last ditch Jags block or tackle.
