Also think he's been underrated as a captain too, mainly because he has never been a Terry/Keane constant screaming in the refs face kind of captain. All the other players seem to think really highly of him and the job he does.
Aye, many seem to think that leadership is yelling at others, being over the top angry and emotional. But a lot of times that also leads to being sent off for doing something daft which leaves your team in a very difficult position especially as they are usually a key part of the defense.

Jags also carries himself with class off the pitch which a few notable English captains haven't...

He seemingly never caused any trouble when Arsenal wanted him for £16 million a few years ago.

Absolutely. Two rock solid defenders who relish a tackle and love getting blocks in. They'll both be desperate not to give a single goal away, even if we're winning by a hefty margin.

If them, along will Gueye and Lukaku stay injury free we'll have a storming season.

yesterday I'm. pretty sure they both had their own blocking competition going on because Williams made about 3 superb blocks and I remember Jags doing 2, one in particular in the 88th minute where he absolutely hurled himself at the ball. That's a nice habit to have that, working for the clean sheet let alone the 3 points.

He's here because Moyes couldn't do business on the last day of the window so Kone stayed at Sunderland.

He's under massive pressure to deliver and if he slips up Mori is in and Koeman won't leave it much longer to purchase another CB.

He was adapted by Martinez to become a CB who can play a pass. It's just about saved his bacon with the incoming Koeman, but he's not the ideal fit. There is no blend in that current CB duo and Koeman prefers that in his pairings at the centre of defence.

Koeman, IMO, is playing a diplomatic game in his early period here at the club. He knows what this llot can do if a manager upsets the apple cart. But he's not daft and he'll await until next summer to establish his stock here and then act...something Martinez should have done when his stock was high after his first season. The old guard have to go. They had their time here and failed to produce a winning attitude and silver ware. No sentiment - get them out.

Don't quite get that?
If Moyes wanted Jags and we wanted Kone (and would allow Jags to move), what was the problem? Maybe, Koeman didn't want him to go?
Jags used to play in midfield, so could already pass a ball, don't think Martinez gets credit for simply asking him to do something he already could but, wasn't required to do as much under Moyes.

Moyes was looking for another replacement for Kone. It didn't come off and so Kone stayed put.

OK, I get that RK wanted Kone and for whatever reason (Jags not being one of them), he didn't arrive but, Koeman has sort of made clear what players he doesn't rate.
Funes Mori is here, Holgate (has been getting lots of praise from RK) is here, Jags is being played though?

You've complained about his attitude, his leadership and his skill for years.

Yet in that time Jags has been voted player of the year by both fans/teammates, picked as first choice by successive managers (including one you rated) and looks to be by a third...and long may he continue proving you wrong lol

Don't bother mate. Logic doesn't change his ill thought out bias.

Your boring and one eyed agenda against Jags is stopping you from admitting that - yet again - he's making you eat your words so far this season

He's here because Koeman said he had absolutely no intention of selling him btw.

And he played well better than Kone yesterday.

He's great and it'll be sad when he hangs up his boots
