Koeman only gives shirts to players on merit...unless they're senior pros who can rock the boat for him...then he'll back down and continue to play them if they underperform.
Ross Barkley is a senior pro.

I would like to see Funes Mori given a chance alongside Williams, Jagielka should be benched or rested altogether if not fully fit. Jagielka has been an outstanding player for ourselves but can not be picked based on being a good servant. Time moves on and I would hate to see him remembered as an error prone player rather than the top professional he has been for most of his time here.
Jags has had a awful few weeks, great servant but along with a keeper I think its one of the main things we need to look at in January is another quality center half.
Reserved 22 year old who wont answer back gets 'wake up call".Ross Barkley is a senior pro.

Let's hope *the other* senior pro gets the wake up call too...or in his case a massive shake of his wobbly head.
Jagielka has been a great defender on the whole for us, but he has always been prone to errors.
One that sticks out for me was when he gave the ball straight to Ashley Young straight after we equalised against Aston Villa to make it 2-2 and we lost 3-2 in the 94th minute.

"For ourselves ...."hmm creative grammar that .
He has been our best defender for many years - a difficult couple of weeks and now we want him out - underlines why many would never be near any key decisions Football or otherwise.
But by playing in the premier league he's not achieved anything. He simply was lucky enough to be good enough. Saying playing in itself is an achievement is akin to saying successfully getting the bus into work tomorrow morning is success. Surely what you do and what you win, and the accolades you receive are the achievements.
But yea probably a different debate altogether that I'm getting into. I just think Jagielka is weak mentally not sensible choice as captain of a fragile side.
