Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

If we were to get an Allan or a creative CM in, do we necessarily need someone that is good on the ball? I'd argue we don't, we desperately need someone to win the ball back , and play a simply 5 yard pass to the creative players - Hojbjerg in that instance is perfect.

If it allows a Gomes/Allan/Gbamin type to roam around without having to worry about winning it back then it is a good signing.

There is nothing in this for Southampton except to rinse us for a player in the last year of his contract.

Once again, if Ancelotti wants him then fair enough, but it has to be on a value for money basis.

Sadly there isn't much to choose between us and Soton so I wouldn't go near our cast-offs if I was them, and I don't think they will either.
Think it will be the same as the Siggy saga. Swansea played hard ball and we ended up paying £45 million for him. Great valve though!

Just like Sissoko all over again.

If we don't get him then people will say it's not a great loss, but then he'll go on to actually be very good and people will moan about the club not getting him.
Yeah Sissoko isn't even that good and he walks into our starting 11.

It's about getting in players better than we already have.

If it's under 20m it's an absolute steal tbh that is nothing in today's market, 24 years old, Already captain. We don't need superstars lads we need people who will get dirty when it gets tough and he looks like a ball winner which we need.
Him alone simply won't be enough though we'll need another CM but under 20m and potentially a player departing? I'm all in.

As a Schneiderlin replacement yes. We do still need to replace any of Delph, Davies or Gylfi though.

I was iffy in the beginning but that was when 25 million was being quoted. If we are able to get him for anything around 15 and with a player going the other way then it would be a very good piece of business...can’t honestly see it happening, we’re no better than saints right now :p

For Southampton they have a player who they need to get what they can for this summer. There's also rumours of difficult financial times for them, so I'm sure the cash will be useful.

They seem to me, to be quite a smart club and understand the importance of moving players on and this is another.

I'd also add, the figures I've seen seem reasonable enough. We have no idea what the market will do so it's hard to say, but 20m ish seems ok. I'd like it below 15m, but it's not a terrible deal.

As for our rejects, again possibly but he's a smart coach Hassunhutl. For a lad like Davies, he would probably be a good coach for him to work under and may well be the move he needs.

Hope they badly want that Peters and Spurs storm in and take him.

You all realise he’s bang average don’t you?
Superb stuff, I didn’t need them to tell me this though.

Some fairly knowledgable posters on here hadn’t heard of him until we was linked or never noticed him.

He’s garbage and if this is Brands solution he really hasn’t got anything down for him.

Im surprised you have noticed him. I quite fancied us going for him when he left Bayern but havent paid much attention to him at southampton.

I've got a hunch that the player they want is Walcott. They've only got Redmond as a true wide player I think (happy to be corrected).

+ Homecoming etc etc

Walcotts book value would be circa £7mil. If we could inflate that (to help with our FFP) to say £10mil and give them Walcott + £10mil it appears to be a solid deal on paper.

Cant see anything than him, Davies or Kenny perhaps going there.

Not sure if hes a 'ball winner' or someone who 'intercepts' passes...i dont think anyone here has paid much attention to him but his defensive stats are solid.

Have you noticed Hojbjerg catcher?

Ive always seen him as a bit of a Carsley type underrated player and nothing fancy. But havent seen enough of him or paid much attention.
