Hoping it won't be another Schneiderlin/Sigurdsson type deal, big enough fee, big increase in wages and get a year of effort (6 months in MS case) before downing tools.

Tough one though, bit underwhelming signing players from worse PL teams but also sick of buying rejects from huge clubs!

It wont be a big fee as he's only a year on his deal and he's been stripped of captaincy for wanting to go.

£14m opening offer, probs end up around £20m max id imagine.

I've seen him play quite a few times over the last couple of years (season ticket at St Marys).

He's a nice bloke, mostly average, occasionally good, lives off his reputation of being a prospect at Bayern.
He slows down open play, has a decent shot (mostly straight at the keeper), can tackle, awful passing.

Anything over 10million would have the Saints fans dancing in the streets

Think this is the better way to be honest. Signing players who didn't make it at a big club always carries a 'Lee Sharpe' risk that their motivation will fade when they take a step down, feeling that they've already peaked. Think its obvious we've seen this with loads of players over the years; Schneiderlin, Blomqvist, arguably even Gomes.

Liverpool have just built a league winning side with players who see their arrival at Liverpool as their peak - some of their absolute key players were signed from Hull and Southampton. We need players who see themselves as working towards their peak, rather than coming down off it.

Very good point this actually..

the best defense we have had in ages was a player from Wigan, Sheffield Utd and Wolves..

Remember some Villa fans saying Gana was crap when we signed him...doesn't work hard, no quality on the ball...

Don't know much about Hjobjerg, including how to spell his name, but just a reminder that opposition fans aren't always the best judges of players.

Sounds like a great fit for the Walton Globetrotters. Thanks.

Gana was a dreadful passer. It didn’t matter one bit.

We like nice blokes at Everton, our undoing.
