Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Getting opinions from fans on players is a slippery slope cause they're all fickle, If Richarlison handed in a transfer request tomorrow and some Barca fan came here asking opinions on him I'd say you've just bought a younger version of Afonso Alves.
Hopefully like Richarlison Hojbjerg would make the step up into a bigger team with better players around him and he can go from meh at Southampton into an important player.
Could argue the toss over that one currently if comparing them to us...

I mean it's not questionable we have the worst midfield in the league but defense and attack can be worked with and we have superior players to Southampton imo even if we're neighbors in the league table and a much more overall ambitious team.

What were the opinions from the Villa fans of Gana before he came here and settled straight in? What did people here believe of him?

I'm not saying Hojbjberg will be the same, but horses for courses. We've got to trust that Carlo will be working with Brands and he'll judge him accordingly.

A quick Google search reveals he at least knows what a trophy looks like, that's a start.

Haven’t read the rest of the thread but this prospective transfer smacks of Gylfi Sigurdsson. Been on Saints forum earlier and they are saying he is terrible and can’t wait to get rid.

That said, they are saying they wouldn’t take any of our players as part of a deal apart from Yannick Bolasie so yanno

...the Hojbjberg type of player isn’t flashy and will do much of his work under the radar. I doubt he’d be many fans favourite. He’s the type a team misses when he’s not there, although Southampton have looked decent in his absence.

Still think the only signing from Southampton should be Ings.

Although I'll reserve judgement if this lad does sign until he gets a run of games as haven't seen much of him.

I have a saints season ticket holder and tells me he's actually like Danny Drinkwater and not that good at all. His ball retention is poor and not able to pass that well. His break up play is questionable too and has a general malaise about him. He said they've been wanting to get rid and seems it's backed up from what they're saying on the forums - not mich positives about him really. We'll be making another transfer error I think.

From that assessment it sounds like we've found ourselves another Schneiderlinn.

Funny how we're all traumatised by new signings now instead of excited.

Don’t want. Been on the saints forum and they think he is crap. Just like the Arsenal fans with Iwobi and just like the United fans with Rooney for 3 years before we were stupid enough to sign him. Lacks discipline and composure on the ball apparently which is the last thing we need when none of our current midfield can string 2 passes together

The player suddenly becomes crap once he wants to move away. I suspect all fans are fickle.

Not always - I was gutted when we lost Gana.

I have a gut feeling that he'll be another Brands dud but I havent seen much of him so will have to wait and see really if he does sign.

If signing him on the cheap means we can afford a 2nd CM to come in for a bit more money who's top quality then I'll be happy enough - if he's our only CM I'll be gutted as him and Gomes dont inspire much confidence.

Youd forget about Gbamin. Id be surprised but happy if we got another central midfilder after PEH. Its just the numbers dont stack up for another one. It would be PEH, Gbamin, Gomes, Davies, Delph in there. Certainly an out would be needed.

See Leeds were promoted wonder would they have interest in Delph, hes been a real waste of resources so far.

Would love to hear what a saints fans thinks of him....

Think you have to liken it to threads on here when people are resigned to someone leaving, Lukaku was lazy, Barkley a show pony, Stones was surplus to requirements for the money. People just emotionally detach when someone clearly wants out.

Be like our captain Seamus Coleman saying he wants to leave to move to a bigger club, i can imagine the threads on here - "Hes gash anyway etc".
