I think alot of our fans have forgot that under Moyes we only bought players when we sold players! I think since we've had the money come in we are scared at the thought of selling any player who isnt classed as "utter deadwood" even if they dont really contribute enough to the starting 11 for the high wages they are on.

If we sold Kean/Mina for £20 million each people would moan even though they have done little to nothing at the club and could help bring in a player who becomes one of our best players.

For me we need to get back to wheelin and dealin like Moyes did - players often wouldn't stagnate that long because Moyes would sell ones who maybe weren't doing enough and getting a few quid to freshen up a position that needed strengthening. That and utilising the loan market more like we did in Martinez's 1st season.

In my opinion every year we should sit down and do a cost/benifit exercise. Bernard, Delph and Walcott simply dont contribute enough to be on 120k a week in the PL. Very little impact, very little return for their cost.

Then you look at planning going forward, where does someone like Iwobi fit? I dont know myself. That creates an over hang and drain of resources. As does the quality we have in central midifild we have to many players lacking in quality and contribution in there that stops us improving, because you bring in another layer of players to try and improve it but cant shift what you have and you end up with what we have - an unsustainable wage bill.

Then you look at contracts you want a return on, Gylfi and Walcott need looking at - if we are to get a return - then you are into player trading. Can you get a better attacking midfilder and right winger then both, for the wages they are on - you would fancy your chances.

Then your looking at the Chum - get anything you can for Besic, Sandro and Bolaise.

There is so much waste at the club in wages to contribution, we ned to be leaner and more effective.

I like Yerry and Kean, with players of their profile they are assets with high head room to improve and appreciate to be sold - Kean in particular i think is quality waiting to happen - but i know you dont share that opinion. Both are on long contracts and every year they are with us they are worth more to us, that is different to the players i mention above. Its why you sign young players with potential even if they haven't fulfilled it.

The problem we have is player trading, its very hard to find markets for the players i mention above, because their stock is so low, due to their lack of contribution and impacfullness here - yet we pay them a fortune.

Moyes is excellent at talent spotting, buy low, sell high, i was looking at West Ham last night and hes at it again there with some of the loan signings hes made. It begs a borader question though. We have regressed in recruitment since he left, but have taken on costs of north of 5 mill a year to pay someone who wasnt here before to get worse by poorly recruiting - it doesnt make much logical sense.

I was thinking to myself this morning - remember we signed DCL from lower league Sheffield Utd just a few short years ago - they are now ahead of us in the PL - how the hell has that been allowed to happen with what we have had to spend - its not good enough.

The real problem is the crap players Carlo has inherited from the previous managers. Give Carlo time to bring players and continue to give the young guns a go.

Van Dijk?

overrated pile of rubbish imo, mane's good, but he's good a lot because of hard work, wouldn't call him a proper silky baller on the le tissier level. Van dijk is a good defender made to look a lot better because of the RS infested media, a very defensive structure because he's canny in always being in front of the cameras. Every time they concede he's nowhere to be seen, hiding marking thin air and leaving his partner to look after the loan striker. The complete lack of good defenders in world football also makes him look better, wouldn't have him in the top 10 centre backs in the premier league for example. Anyway, i digress, he's not a proper baller.

Ancelotti has worked with hojbjerg before, lads if he thinks he's good enough for us then don't concern yourself with what soton fans think. What do they really have to base their opinion on? The only proper player theyve had in 30 years us le tissier.

and any player who’s signalled his intention to leave will never ever get a good review it’s the denial stage ,ah he’s rubbish anyway we don’t need him type attitude

Think we have to be hopeful hes young enough mate, but i get were you are coming from, the jungle drums sound good on him though and his potential in training.

Delph has been a surprising let down, i always liked him, but when we needed players to stand up hes just sat down both on performances and injuries. You can say that is bad luck, but if you are paying 125k in wages a week you need some kind of contribution, looking at Delph, Beranrd and Walcott (though he gets a pass this week) here. What we pay them for contribution is poor and you have to question those decisions, especially when we are working in the bugdets and limits we are.

With Delph and the other two i cant see anyone else picking up their wages. Sad thing is you take the contribution of Gordon and Branthwaite in the last few games and they are on a tiny percentage of what the players i mentioned are, but making a bigger contribution, even Daives and Gylfi have shown up and been warm bodies. Its part of the problem at Everton even still in this Neo Brands age.

i think with players like the 3 above, they all have the talent which makes me less want to offload them. I just hope that we can get a proper spine in and these luxury players will start playing more to their level when things are all going nice. Obviously we'd want them to pull their socks up but that didn't happen. Walcott i was all for getting rid of in the summer, but players like iwobi seem so useless and walcott's pace has been used as a good asset by ancelotti i'm not so dead against him having one more year.

As you say, their wages are returning nowhere near the performance level and we could put about 10/15 players in that boat, sadly we need to make too many changes and only have about 6/7 weeks to do it.

the worst was us with lukaku ... doesn't score important goals etc, we'd be top 4 this season if he was still here, just look how much impact ings has had playing with 10 plodders.

That’s a list of current players that they’ve sold.
I do give my mates grief on the side they could have.
