So we made the decision to suspend Sigurddson purely as a PR exercise - seeing as he's still costing us hundreds of thousands of pounds and could essentially still be an active member of the squad

Maybe we should send an invoice to Merseyside Police for his wages?

Wouldn't shock me if it's written into all of the contracts that we can't terminate someone for getting investigated/charged. We can probably only sack someone without penalties if they actually get convicted of something

Less to do with PR and more to avoid the chance of legal action and/or a load of bother from the Players Union
 
I'm pretty sure that because he hasn't been found guilty yet , we have to pay his wages

however, if he was to be found guilty , the club might be able to sue him for any wages paid after his arrest due to breaking Morality clauses that are 99% likely to be in said players contract
