Hopefully a few of the guys whose contracts expire this and the following summer can be punted in Jan.

If we keep James, Coleman and perhaps Gibson thats 13 players moving on...

Settling up early to get him out the door will cut massively into any fee as nobody is gonna come close to the deal he's getting here. No profit with that fella.

Id have any of Holgate Godfrey or even Mina starting over him. I think Mina is poor also. The pairing of Mina and Keane limit so much of how we can play. They have to sit deep to cover their lack of pace and their distribution is woeful. Watching other teams play a high line and their centrebacks switching play with ease shows how far off the level we are.

Godfrey / Holgate for me in a 2.

Mina i prefer to keane but he must be sold with Keane getting 5 more years

Branthwaite as 4th choice...

I would like to see Holgate Godfrey but I think Keane is nailed on. To be fair he hasn't done anything wrong but I think we aren't physical enough when Keane plays alongside Holgate and not enough pace when he plays alongside Mina. Maybe Keane Godfrey might work as he is stronger than Holgate and quicker than Mina.

It's really not big changes coming unfortunately. You're talking about getting rid of 5 bench players and 8 players who never see the field. It won't change our starting XI. List below.

If those 13 players leave the club then were left with 21.

GK: Pickford / Virginia
RB: Coleman
RCB: Mina / Keane / Godfrey
LCB: Branthwaite / Holgate
LB: Digne / Nkounkou
CM: Davies / Allan / Doucoure / Gbamin / Gomes
LF: Richarlison / Gordon
RF: Iwobi / James
CF: Kean / DCL


Those 13 players out may release £600k+ a week in wages.

Totally hypothetically, imagine adding 4 star players to the 21 above. Thats what £600k a week pays for.

Thats before a single sale of any players.

This is going to be a big opportunity for us.

The problem with that is that they are both still learning their trade. A young centre back needs to be paired with someone more experienced to help bring them through. Holgate isn't anywhere near experienced enough to mentor Godfrey

The reason why Ive been saying that we have to sell 15/16 players is because in 2021 8 contracts expire and 2022 11 contracts expire. Almost all of these players wont be extended and so its better to move them on now for a transfer or loan to generate some fees and save wages.

Interesting, in the first highlighted 24contracts, I'd only want to keep defo 3, maybe 4. The rest shouldn't even be at our club. How in the f. have we signed so many duds. It's embarrassing how exceptionally bad we are at choosing players, not only for our club, but to fit the teams we try to build.
