I think if we go down 20-25ish would be very hard to turn down for Branthwaite. I like him a lot and would love him to stay but when he’s spent a season playing in Europe and winning a trophy he’s going to want to kick on not go backwards.
We will need to cover a massive shortfall in revenue with sales AND fund some sort of transfer budget to fill the gaps with decent players, if Branthwaite can fund 2 or 3 investments in young talent we probably have to take what’s on offer for him.
Even if we stay up that sort of fee for a player who isn't currently in the squad would be very difficult to turn down in the circumstances.

I would rather sell Keane and Holgate and keep Branthwaite. Their wages alone should pay the shortfall to keep a good talented young player.

Branthwaite is completely unproven in the top leagues. 25m puts him in Guehi/Tomori fees and they had a better pedigree

I think I know what he means about pedigree though. Guehi had been talked about as a future star for years, he'd captained England youth sides, was in the World Cup winning under 17s side etc. People talk about Branthwaite sometimes as if he's been universally recognised as being the same but he hasn't really. He's barely played for England youth sides. I'm not saying he's not as good or won't be better or anything like that, just that I'm not sure it's totally realistic to expect massive bids for someone with his record so far.

Yep Guehi had been pencilled in as a future england international for years and Branthwaite is nowhere near as revered as he was. Branthwaite just isn't talked about in the same way as his peers rightly or wrongly

@Sheedy's right knee. Is right about this. It makes more sense to sell other players before him.
De Ligt went from Ajax to Juventus for 85.5mil and Martinez to United for 57mil, Sanchez to Spurs for 42mil (all euros).
Now obviously Branthwaite isnt as widely known or experienced in European competition as them. However Bayern, Roma, United and others have all been linked in the media.
If PSV were to sign him for the £15mil they offered im sure thats because Brands could envisage a sale north of £30mil.
We paid fees for Mina, Godfrey and Keane between £25-30mil. How much would we pay PSV for a player like Branthwaite if we had the money and they owned him?
If he develops as he has been doing we could be talking about a future England first choice centre back and a long term player in the spine of our team.
Just cant sell these players (also Onana) unless for really silly money.
