Players out on loan 2024/25

Been getting regular starts up there, not a brilliant level but the Scottish Prem will toughen him up, especially games like today. Coupled with some u20 games for England I wonder if we’d chuck a contract in the hope of at least retrieving a few quid for him.

….doubt it myself, comes to a point where you have to decide if they have a future with us or not. He’s a decent size and will earn a living in the game but I doubt there’ll be a clamour for him.

?? Sorry I genuinely don’t understand your point . I said Barry , sorry misspelt earlier, was an example of a success loan , if you disagree then we’ll have to agree to disagree.

Barry is an odd one. Massive fanfare when moving from WBA to Barca, living alone at La Masia and then moved to Villa (who he supports).

Record for England Youth was insane and then he's not been selected since u18 level.

Done very well on paper for Stockport the last 2 seasons and I'm a bit surprised he's not got a loan move to a higher level.

Have to say the loans have been amazing for them.
Bit off topic but Barry’s club want to take him out of Stockport and loan him to a championship club so they can see him at a higher level. Hope he can continue his upward trajectory after a difficult period for him. Could conceivably go on to do what the likes of Rogers and Johnson have done if things go well for him

The suggestion I’ve seen is that they’re open to selling Barry in January with a buy-back clause, something they’ve done before. I’m surprised Villa loaned him back to Stockport given he had a decent impact with them in League 2 last season , I thought he’d have gone to the Championship.

Yep , playing in Dingwall will certainly have toughened him up. He’s had some reasonable reviews playing left CB in a three , but nothing outstanding that makes him stand out. Former CB Ryan Astley has been starting with Dundee recently so Campbell may well end up back in the SPL.

Weekend round up.

Mason Holgate was dropped to the WBA bench v Sheff United and came on with the score 2-2 after 82 minutes which is how it finished.

Billy Crellin played the full 90 as Accrington lost 2-1 at home to Bromley.

Blackpool's game fell victim to the weather.

Eli Campbell played the whole game but Ross County lost 3-0 at home to Rangers.

Francis Okoronkwo is apparently injured so didn't play for Salford. Jenson Metcalfe and Sean McAllister are out long term. Still sign of Reece Welch for Deinze nor of Francis Gomez for Lyon U19. He played 90 minutes last month, scored but has disappeared again.

Shows that clubs dont really care about the player but just treat them as an asset.
Stockport have a chance to do really well this season, a lot of that down to Barry, a lot of that down to them building a stable environment for him to work in and flourish.
Denying him & Stockport that opportunity to see if he can do it for someone like Stoke to make a couple of million isn't exactly nice to see

Yeah it's probably better for the player to stay put till end of season then go to the championship next season

Mason Holgate played midweek for WBA and helped his team get a clean sheet in a 2-0 victory over FL's Coventry.

Not many in action today. Francis Okoronkwo still apparently injured so not featuring in Salford's win over Notts County.

A third consecutive win though for Blackpool with Harry Tyrer in between the sticks, 3-0 away to Reading. 7 out of 10 from the Gazette. Not much to do but dealt with everything comfortably. Seems like Steve Bruce has handled him well - taking him out of the firing line for a couple of weeks after he shipped 5 and then slowly bringing him back in the cups. Blackpool safely up in 10th now.

Eli Campbell scored early on for Ross County at Hibs but he went off after just 21 minutes, presumably injured. County went on to concede 3 goals and lost 3-1. Hopefully not a serious one.

Not much loan action. It seems most of the loanees are injured.

Another clean sheet for Harry Tyrer as Blackpool drew 0-0 at home to Stevenage. Only 6 out of 10 from the Gazette though. "A couple of nervy moments as he continues to struggle when it comes to collecting the ball"....

Billy Crellin conceded two as Accrington lost 2-0 at home to Salford. Francis Okoronkwo still out injured for Salford.

Eli Campbell presumably not recovered from injury either as he missed Ross County's home defeat to St Mirren.
