Playing guitar

Practice, and practice being precise, don't let bad habits creep in or its a royal PITA to get rid of them in later years. I didn't pick a guitar up for years after playing as a kid but starting to get back into it again. My good lady had allowed me the box room as a music room so I'm building some kit up again and re learning how to play. The Tokai Les Paul in this pic is a 1983 MIJ lawsuit one I've had from new and a gorgeous thing to play. Hidden behind the SG is a 1w valve amp, fun little thing. 80362

To explain 'MIJ lawsuit' to those who don't know.

Gibson went apesh1t in the 1980s when Tokai brought out their guitars which were a direct copy of the Gibson Les Paul. They initiated a lawsuit against Tokai. Those Tokai guitars made in that period were from then on called 'Tokai lawsuit' guitars. Quite collectable nowadays, but they are rarely seen on the market.

sorry, you are absolutely blob on in your explanation. Out of the two electrics I currently have, the Tokai is much better than the 2018 Gibson SG Standard and probably will never part with it.

Nice! I am a sucker for a good Les Paul, they feel just right to me. My gigging days are probably well behind me now but the smaller valve amps mic'd into the PA if needed seem to be the way everyone is going these days.

What the one on the very end? It looks very similar to my first ever electric...

The two Les Pauls are what I play. The other three belong to the other guitarist in the band. He uses the one on the far right for slide.

The other guitarist uses an Albion Gulfstream15 also (I got mine after him, after I tried a Les Paul through his at rehearsal). The Gulfstream has a volume control for the pre-amp, so you can push the pre-amp to the point of breaking up to give excellent sustain.

I've just looked up those amps, they look pretty decent value. I had started to sideline some cash to one side for an SV20h but its a bit of an indulgence just for playing at home but I want a Plexi style sound, the JTM30 I have is OK but not quite what I am after so may have a look at these Albions

Did you see this article about George Harrison's guitar ?

You don't wanna' know what David Gilmour's black Strat actually sold for then...

And, unless someone loses their mind, that thing will be lucky to see 50k...a song was never written or recorded on it and it wasn't even ever seen or photographed being played live. The comment by Harrison to the guy is hilarious, basically "this thing is shiz, you can have it". Someone making a mountain out of molehill there, for the sake of TV.

Does anyone play guitar? I've just started learning. I'm trying to play the G chord and I can't understand how it's physically possible to get your fingers in that position. It's getting rar on my tits.

You should try and learn 3 or 4 chords at a time, transitioning randomly between each and trying to do it faster and faster over time. Like @Death said, you will learn quite a bit when you're away from the guitar, so you will be picking it up without even knowing
