Playing guitar

You don't wanna' know what David Gilmour's black Strat actually sold for then...

And, unless someone loses their mind, that thing will be lucky to see 50k...a song was never written or recorded on it and it wasn't even ever seen or photographed being played live. The comment by Harrison to the guy is hilarious, basically "this thing is shiz, you can have it". Someone making a mountain out of molehill there, for the sake of TV.

I'm gobsmacked

What chords are you playing before and after G? Do they mean you have move every finger?

So G is usually:
3
2
0
0
0
3

But it can also be:
3
2
0
0
3
3

Try it with the extra finger and then
Maybe try D just before and after, leaving your finger on the 2nd string and using it to pivot the others.
At the moment I'm trying to change between C and G. It's really easy if I use fingers 2,3,4 for G but impossible when using fingers 1,2,3. But I'll keep trying.

looks nice mate. I'm learning on a cheap acoustic. My aim is to get good enough to justify buying a really good electric one

I bought my self a really nice Martin semi-acoustic in 2007 and it’s the only guitar I have owned in that time. The tone is amazing, so just to say don’t overlook the value of a nice acoustic.

That said, you can get great sounding guitars of all stripes for not so much money these days - the market has come a long way since I was first strumming as a teenager in the 80s.

I forget which way the numbering of fingers goes, but I recommend learning these:

G:
3 middle
2 index
0
0
3 ring
3 little

C:
3 ring
3 little
2 middle
0
1 index
0

It's a relatively hard change early on, so maybe learn D to practice with G and learn Aminor and Eminor to practice with C. You can put them all together later.

Also, start playing songs you like, not just learning chords. If you tell me few bands you like I'll try to get you a simple version of something.

I played for 6 months years ago and starting learning scales quite a bit easier than chords. I was doing the blues scale without any issue but switching between chords was my issue. I want to start again but that's my biggest fear; that I will get discouraged again because that's the pain in teh arse part. I could do a bunch of songs by memory but I could never DO the songs because of how long it took me to switch chords. Made me sad..

So many. Oasis are easy to play for beginners right?

I started off playing Oasis songs.

Plenty of choice of oasis songs with pretty basic chord progressions.

Live forever, wonderwall, some might say, whatever etc. Supersonic maybe the easiest.

Back in anger a little trickier cause theres an F chord but it's not too bad either.
