Hmm. Looks like the board have panicked much too earlier here.

Exactly my thinking, if that txt is true then it sounds like they've hit the panic button and haven't got a clue what to do, there goes my theory that surely there was a plan in place before sacking koeman

I'd be expecting allerdyce links if we where in the bottom 3 at Christmas, but 9 games in and 5 points off the top 10 is infuriating

..possibly. I reckon they are very concerned. Personally, I wouldn’t have a clue who to go for so I don’t really have a view on anybody.

All I will say is that we’re one appointment away from survival or one appointment away from disaster. I expect the Board will want to play this as safe as possible.

This really.

No flavour of the month. No PL virgin. No project.

Something has seriously gone south, but if I need my car fixed for tomorrow morning, I want someone who has got every car started he has been asked to. Not someone who might.

Although not glamorous or exciting, i think this is a good move SHORT TERM! He would (hopefully) keep us up and i think our squad could really benefit from all the sports science stuff he is renowned for. Might actually restore some levels of performance and mental strength!

And if we appoint him, and he doesn't, we've played it safe when we should have had the nuts to keep going.

Have a look at the club's Allardyce has been the manager of them. Mysteriously, many of them up in absolute poop street not long after he leaves. Total coincidence.

Teams managed
1991–1992 Limerick (player-manager)
1992 Preston North End (caretaker manager)
1994–1996 Blackpool
1997–1999 Notts County
1999–2007 Bolton Wanderers
2007–2008 Newcastle United
2008–2010 Blackburn Rovers
2011–2015 West Ham United
2015–2016 Sunderland
2016 England
2016–2017 Crystal Palace

Bolton - his massive overspending on backroom staff started a big downturn in their finances.
Newcastle - went down, needed a total rebuild. Couldn't get rid of crap like Nolan for ages as he'd given them big deals.
Blackburn - Couple with Venkys he's helped take that club into ruin
West Ham - saddled with utter rubbish like Carroll that they can't shift. Owners and fans hated him because they knew he was up to no good.
Sunderland - short termism contributed to a bloated, crap squad that, hey, now is marooned near the bottom of the Championship.
Palace - only team worse than us.

Could all be a huge coincidence :coffee:

Yep, he could 'save' us short term (we're ten games in ffs). But the lasting damage won't be seen til he leaves.

Fair point that Orly. Hadnt occurred to me that. But in mitigation, the ones that are terminal, Bolton, Sland, have been dreadfully run for ages anyrate, West Ham aint too bad, by their standards, and Newcastle are doing ok, by their standards,

Perhaps the template is he gets us sorted short term, then we all take a collective gulp, and get the next one right.

Cos although these last few months have been awful, we are a billion miles away from Bolton/Blackburn/Sland levels of mismanagement. (He had a stint at Blackburn didnt he?)

I hope.

..I don’t disagree, Matey. I think there’s risk with any appointment.

This club will also, let's not forget, be prostituting itself to a man who lost his last job under allegations of corruption. And for what?

Exactly! He's like the fireman that puts the fire out, yes, but then leaves you with a half burned, water damaged mess. So, the question would be, who rebuilds us when this fella is done with us?

The fact that clubs suddenly start struggling after they lose Allardyce is indicative of how brilliant he is.
