Don't think we have a choice. Nothing to play for in the league (thanks Martinez...) and the Kopites are dirty scum on the field, so playing Lukaku in that game would be a massive risk.

Probably rest Barry, Barkley and Lukaku if it were me.

Romelu, McCarthy, Lennon and Coleman should all be sent to warmer climates wrapped in cotton wool IMO. Niasse cannot replace Romelu, there is also no cover for Coleman so we need to be careful.

While i don't condone resting players for the Derby - i posted this on the youth thread, i wonder if the likes of Dowell might be considered if Martinez does rest key players.

Rest key players is just about ok, resting the full team for a Derby is just a no-no in my eyes.

Devastated about the fixturing of this...
Not only potential injuries/suspensions, but psychologically, having to juggle two massive games in the same week with the important one being the latter. I'm not even arsed about the physical side of the derby - its the mental side... win, lose or draw the city of liverpool will be going crazy; and win, lose or draw the players will have to deal with that and flick the switch back on

We would be mad to play most of are considered first 11 imo. The league means nothing, I couldn't care less what happens at anfield.

This is the best chance we will probably ever get to win the cup, with the teams left in.

Also Utd and West Ham play the same night, and both have a chance of top 4, so will be playing stronger teams than us.

This could be our team without any of the 10 outfield players from the Chelsea game.

Used to be a rule that teams facing this quandary had to put out a recognised full team for the league match. (Didn't Everton get fined for not doing this in '68?).
