Manure and Irons are also playing the same night and hardly they will rest their best players as they are both trying to reach Top 4. So why should we rest our stars against our biggest rivals?
We have a good squad. Take Lukaku off on 65 mins after his hat trick.
I am sure we can win both.
Don't you forget, NSNO!!!

Even asking this question shows how far we have sunk with out expectations, its small time thinking.

We need to get use dot having loads of big games.
I do agree with this, but at this stage of the season with nothing really to play for in the the league it's not a big issue for me.

At the start of the season, the teams in Europe playing Saturday and mid week, are also the teams challenging for the title and the top 4 places.

But even theses team, play weaker sides in the league cup.As the season goes even the top teams start to prioritise.

Just look at city, with a squad costing probably 500mil. Played the kids in the cup v Chelsea last month

Its a derby. Play the strongest 11, they should be able to play in a high intensity game on a Wednesday and then a cup semi final on Saturday/Sunday.

play a defensive minded team at anfield set up to counter with our pacey backup front line of deulofeu, mirallas and niasse and hit them on the counter.

That's exactly what they struggle against. Remember when chelsea played their reserves and cost them the title? better liverpool team back then.

We have loads to play for, if we give up on the season and finish 12th, and lose in the cup final.....Bye bobby.....So we NEED to finish high in the league.

Man City were bang out of order doing what they did, and got spanked, and rightly so.

We have nothing to play for in the league. You sound like Martinez we are in 2 competitions, no we aren't we are in one.

The best we could hope for in the league would be 8th. Which wouldn't get Europe, but winning the cup would.

I'm not saying throw the towel in for all the league games, im just saying we should rest most of our players for the derby.

This is for another thread, but I couldn't care less what happens to Martinez. I don't think moshiri will except mid table, and his constant bull he talks. The fa cup will probably give him another season

I genuinely care less about this derby than any previous derby in years.

Obviously I don't want us to get battered or even beaten, but the cup semi is BY FAR the more important game. The league has gone, we're finishing mid-table & not in the top 7 or 8.

I'd take 0-0 and no injuries/suspensions all day long if offered right now.

I'd love to see us finally win at Anfield but the timing just isn't right to go 100% at them, unfortunately.

I'd definitely rest Lukaku & a few of our other top performers. The last 3 or 4 Anfield derbies have always seen us pick up injuries and/or suspensions.

We always lose their anyway.

Also haven't won a trophy in 21 years mate, so giving up before the game is almost like just wanting to go out the cup first game cos we always lose anyway, we need to build momentum wityh the remainder of the season, take these next 4 games, go into the Derby and try to break a horrid record and go to wembley with a massive load of momentum and hopefully smash the crap out of west ham or united

One thing i don't want is to kick off Klopps Derby record with a easy win against us, rotate a few players out to ensure you have 3-4 key players nice and fresh for the semi, and also that the players coming in will want to stake a place for that game as well.

Deulofeu for Lennon, Besic coming in for Barry (who can't play 2 games of this intensity a week), Oviedo coming in for Baines and maybe Stones for Jagielka, and Mirallas maybe coming in for Ross.

Thats 5 changes a chance to rest Lennon, Barry, Baines, Jagielka and Barkley and bringing in Del, Besic, Oviedo, Stones and Mirallas so overall not weakening the team too much at all, giving a rest to our 3 outfield starters over 30 as well

Can't drop Lukaku though unless Naisse shows at least something over the next 4 weeks first

I'm not reading all that mate. It was only a little joke!

We have a deep enough squad we could win both, and we should base it on tactics and how we want to play in the Cup to choose who to rest more. The reality is though that especially with Klopp there now, we need to send a message to them that in a year where they are absolutely dire we aren't going to continue to capitulate. I can't believe some of us are completely throwing away the Derby. A draw would be perfectly acceptable, but I think we do whatever we can to not lose that game and give a real go at winning it. Bar Lukaku, no one would really be irreplaceable for the Cup semi if someone picked up a knock

Definitely have the squad to put two squad sides out for both games. I'd get gerri involved against Liverpool
