Rest players for a derby game?

FFS :dodgy:

I think we have 3 options. Option 1: We don't rest anyone. Play 3 games in a week and go for the win.

Option 2: Take the Key personnel out (ie Barkley & Lukaku) and only bring them off the bench if losing.

Option 3: We look to rest a few more while keeping a competitive team. (This would be my preference). I think Barry, Cleverley & Lennon could then miss out.

I would probably go with a 3-4-3 of:
Robles

Stones
Mori
Jags

Coleman
Baines

Besic
McCarthy

Deulofeu
Niasse
Mirallas.

I think that's still a competitive team. We have an extra to deal with the high press, as well as a combative midfield two to disrupt their game plan. We also have the pace on the break to cause them problems.

Doesn't matter, Liverpool will beat us anyway. It will just depend on whether they beat us by 1 or 2 goals with a full team or by 3 and 4 with a weakened team

Personally id like to see us a play a reasonable strong side against Liverpool.
Joel
Coleman Stones Mori Oviedo
Deulofeu McCarthy Besic Cleverley Mirallas
Niasse

Something along the lines of that, keep the likes of Barry, Barkley, Lennon, Lukaku on the bench to bring on.

Then in the semi final obviously go full strength whatever our best team maybe at that time...

We play the vermin at least twice every season (barring cup ties or their relegation). FA Cup finals are obviously less frequent. It seems an easy choice for me, play Niasse for Lukaku and sit out Barkley and one of Lenon/Deulofeu. If Mirallas is available, play him against the Crimson Crap and make it clear to him that this is his last chance. We'll have to take our chances re injury with the back four; we should still have enough to end the Analfield drought.

Howard (I'd never risk our best keeper possibly getting injured when we have an enormous cup semi coming up)

Pennington Stones RFM Oviedo

Barry Gibson

Deulofeu Dowell Mirallas

Niasse

Strongest team in both. I want to win the cup and beat them at their place equally.

Start with a strong team then take some off after an hour if need be.

All this they could get injured is ridiculous. Maybe we shouldn't play them from now until the semi as there is as much chance of it happening in any game.

Have to be honest here... We have our best squad for 20 years, we should be able to play both games and really go all out for a win. Of course the risk is injuries though...

I'd personally go:

Joel
Galloway Funes Mori Stones Oviedo
McCarthy Barry
Lennon Mirallas Cleverley
Niasse

I'd rest Coleman, Jagielka, Ross and Lukaku as these are for me irreplaceable in our side. We have no decent back-up right back or striker and the presence of Ross and Jags are key.

Besic, Geri and Baines would all start at Wembley for me, so for that reason I'd leave them out.

Other than that, I'd rotate through the others.

Now, I've stopped pretending to be Martinez now and no one's even in the slightest bit bothered about my side, so I'm off!:bye:lol

If we best Liverpool we get 3 points. That may get us 9th or 10th big deal
But winning the semi, gives us the best chance we may have in years to win the cup.

Would you say the same if we were playing Southampton or Sunderland?

still a month away so a lot will happen in that time. we will know whether we play the semi Saturday or Sunday. we will know who is fit and who is in form. I think he will rotate players including the home game before the Derby. so maybe not all would play 3 in a week.
