Possible Director of Football

It's a shame, for Bill to openly mention his role being diluted he is obviously concerned about his position in the club. I think he knows the writing is on the wall for any real descion making powers for him moving forward.

No doubt he will stick around as a "figurehead" but times are changing.

With his recent health issues he's probably relieved his role is being diluted. (Saying that, he looks a lot fitter since Moshri sent a few million his way!)

He'll still be around, Maybe with a gimpy ball gag, but he'll be around.

Andoni Zubizarreta would be a realistic shout (Sorry if already mentioned) Former team-mate of Koeman at Barca who went on to be their Sporting Director. Has the top-level experience and would fit with Bill's shout of people Ronald has already worked with. Also, he's currently on that list posted earlier of free agents.
I freely admit i know nothing of the role of a sporting director, but i would have thought of all those on the list, this guy would be the most untested? Lets be honest you dont have to work hard to get someone to sign for Barca do you?

A bit left field, but in terms of someone who would help deliver top quality players, and would presumably work well with Koeman, how about Van Basten, Rijkard or Guillit?

We are still in negotiations with several candidates mate. No-one ruled out as far as I have heard.

Just in respect to this, whilst I imagine that I am fairly typical in wanting things done sooner rather than later, the fact that negotiations remain ongoing again reveals the new single-minded, target-driven, attention-to-detail approach taken by the club in securing the best possible candidate and working from the top down in terms of shortlists. It's light years away from depending on pure hope as a strategy.

Not wishing to compromise on securing the best apppointment viewed possible/viable, as the case clearly was with Koeman, can only be to our betterment for whatever position we are hiring for.

It's perfectly correct and prudent to take the time necessary (within reason) to get the right man - this appointment is crucial for the long-term. It may or may not be Monchi - but I'm confident for this appointment either way.

Sweet nice one for the update! Was hoping if we where moving ahead we would have made more noise or an appointment.

Does Koeman have n input in this with being in position?
