i wanted les reed until i did some searching about him and he's a bad meff.

also looks like greg wallaces uglier older brother so it's a no from me.

Mattias Sammer just left Munich Esk, would he be considered after he takes a little break ? (Someone tag esk he put me on the ignore list) lol

Mods cant put people on ignore.

Sammer said he cant do the job full time anymore, the stress impacts his health, I think its unlikely.

That's why I said AFTER a little break, I think professional football these days from scouts to director of football to the kit man is filled with pressure and stress. It is a 25hr 8days a week job scrutinised by the media and pundits alike.
Funny really because imagine the likes of Jamie Carragher and Alan Shearer calling you a crap manager or coach, when one hasn't been manager and the other took his hometown team down lol

Anyways its not a bad thing letting your manager choose his own targets, I thought that was what managers do but what do I know....

You'd be a long way down the list of people I would put on ignore mate (if mods could do so) lol

As @MoutsGoat said it doesn't look like he wants a full time position, although that may change in the future. Suspect we will fill the position though sooner rather than later.

From what you know are all the targets sort of well respected targets that some would consider 'too big for Everton' ? Another words are Everton showing ambition or are we going for someone a little more realistic ? Sammer IMO would not leave Munich for Everton directly but may cross paths if he wants a route back into soccerball/pig bladder kicking.

From stuff i have gathered - we won't be looking to appoint a DoF this summer now, which is probably the smart move should we not be able to get the people in we really want in time - for whatever reason.

Guess we needed to make a decision on if to hang on to get one or let Koeman decide for this summer, failiure to decide on it either way would have left us hanging and meant a summer that saw us basically tread water, for such a key and long term position as a DoF rushing into it would have likely ended very badly

I think we are following the same strategy as we did with the managers position. We knew who we wanted, are doing all we can to attract that person and then will work on others available or who can be prised away.

Throwing my hat in the ring, Damien Comolli, Monchi or Leonardo ;)

I'm very much in favour of a DoF but am intrigued as to how transferable the skills are to another club as most renowned DoFs seem to have made their name in one club situation applying their skills to the situation of that club as opposed to coming into a club and " turning it around " in a short time period. The much maligned Les Reed is a good example who worked within the philosophy Southampton decided upon and made it work successfully for them.
The Monchi's of this world will undoubtedly have a skill set for the job that they could bring us , but are there any successful DoFs who transferred to another club and repeated their success ?

If the manager is a short term appointment of say 3 years , and Moshiri is a long term of 10 years plus then I see the DoF as in the middle, a medium term appointment of say 7 years who will mould his skills to the philosophy of the club and has time to grow with the position. I would love to see Monchi or other big name appointed as the statement it makes would be great, but equally if this is seen as a medium term appointment it needs to be someone who will understand and buy into the clubs philosophy and grow with the position. In this scenario I would consider Alan Irvine as a very able candidate for DoF, knows the club well and has proved that he is a clever and innovative thinker at Academy/u21 level.
