I listed the players that had been reported fit in the week (Aguero) and the players that had been playing league games for them days ago.

I'm afraid that's not the same as stating all of those players would be out and we'd be playing their academy.

Frankly, if they indeed have "loads" out (to the extent you've assumed), I don't see a massive problem with a postponement and would want one if we were in the same position. It's daft the schedule was even as busy as it was in these circumstances.

To put it very clearly, basically every one of these new positive tests would have had the virus when playing Newcastle.

That's how irresponsible this all is.

Bang on.

"Safety is the priority"
"Sound mate, yeah. How come you didn't say/think this before today when we knew they had confirmed cases in their team?"
There’s a bit of a difference in one or two players isolating, and COVID spreading through their squad like wildfire, which apparently seems the case at the min, judging on their available player list you posted before.

They wouldn't have sought a postponement unless they had a lot out.

They've played a game and were going ahead with Walker/Jesus as confirmed Covid cases.

It's not a case of "safety first" IMO.

Mate, they had "two players" with the virus two days ago and now apparently a whole squad. In two days.

All of these people had the virus two days ago, obviously.

It's a half measure. Either you have a zero tolerance "positive test and we cancel" mentality, or you get on with it.

They have flapped playing the in form toffees and decided to say they have an outbreak and closed training ground 4 hours before kick off haha

Is there?

What's the magic number then?

Didn't we bail on the derby because of one player?

"After the latest round of Covid-19 testing, the club returned a number of positive cases, in addition to the four already reported on Christmas Day. With the security of the bubble compromised...."

Wasn't it compromised on Christmas Day with four? They played boxing day.

The test is not 100 per cent reliable .
No test is . You could test negative today and positive on Wednesday.
Yes but that's because of the incubation period. If you are exposed to the virus (by someone coughing at you say) on a Monday, you will not be infectious (ie. be able to transmit it) until the Weds at the earliest, and in that period you will still test negative. You will not display symptoms until the Saturday. This is the problem with the testing regime especially at this time of the year when games come every 2 or 3 days. You can test negative one day and by the time you have your next test (and it shows positive), you could have been infectious for a day or two already.

Well luckily for us, the game hasn’t gone ahead then isn’t it?
