Democrats are like Labour, yeah? Obama is a democrat?

Republicans = Tory? Are the US public likely to vote for a 3rd term of Democrats?

Forgive my simplicity.

They're the major left party, yeah, but they'd be considered a center right party by European standards on economic issues. Farther right than Labour on economic issues, as far left as Labour on social issues. LibDems would probably be the closest comparison I think.

Sanders' platform is much closer to Labour on economics. There are other members of Congress with similar views to him (the Congressional Progressive Caucus is 68 House member and 1 senator, the senator being Sanders.) so it's a small-but-important faction of the Democrats.

Republicans are to the right of Tories on basically everything. Almost all of them want to ban abortion, a lot of them would like still like to make gay marriage illegal again, and a lot of them propose things like replacing the income tax with things like a 15% flat tax and slashing all welfare services. The exception to this rule is the libertarian faction, who are still pretty far right on economic issues but are also almost leftist on social issues. Senator Rand Paul is generally considered their current leader, who just dropped out of the presidential race.

It's kinda weird from a European view, a lot of policy differences can occur inside a party's membership since the system encourages a two party system. If we adopted a parliamentary system the two parties would probably fracture into about 4 or 5 pretty quickly.

Interestingly just heard that over forty per cent of Democrats identify as Socialist. Something like eighty per cent support more than two major policies considered very much Socialist in principle.
Hearing a lot of unelectable criticisms about Sanders that sound similar to scare tactics we've seen here but a few people I know over there think winning the nomination is the tough part for him and that he'd be a huge favourite in the presidential election especially against Trump.
Don't know enough about any of this to understand but their thinking is that Sanders independent persona will appeal to many moderate Republicans much more than Clinton.
So.. it's definitely possible. But considering the backlash we've seen to a social democrat labour leader in this country what are we likely to see from the media and establishment over there? An actual question by the way, not rhetorical.

He's got no chance against Bill, sorry Hillary, as they now enter the states where the African Americans and Latinos come into play.
The only thing that can save us from a Clinton nomination is a miracle and she gets indicted.
Bernie has the funding to stick it out but he will probably fall behind by a lot when they leave the south and after Super Tuesday.
Farcical there isn't a third strong nominee. They are just handing it to the Clintons.

Edit. I should say I always prefer the Dems in America. For the first time though I am not. Can't stand the Clintons and the seemingly farcical way their party are handing it to them.
And Trump. Yes, I am with The Donald.

Well I'm only judging this by betting and Sanders seems to be much shorter odds than Obama was at this stage.
Why has the Black and Latino vote always tended to favour Clinton?

From the Bill days...and Hillary has apparently also supported those communities with programs. I'll leave that to our American members to answer that one in detail.

May all change anyway, as it did last time when Hillary's track record on issues is highlighted.
Anyway my question to Americans out there is not really is it possible, but more how they'd expect the media, business interests etc to respond should he become an even more serious prospect.
I watched A Very British Coup when I was a lad so always used that as a guideline in UK but Americans probably do it differently.
