From what I read earlier, Trump can't clinch it with the primaries, but there are enough uncommitted delegates or delegates that can switch from those that dropped out (depends on state rules) that he could get enough votes after the primaries, but before the convention to win on the first vote.

Documentary about Obama on BBC2 in the UK last night was very good.

All about the introduction of 'Obamacare' with interviews from proponents and opponents as well as a few lines from the main man himself and congressmen and women on both sides of the debate.

What I found astonishing is that there are people there who don't see healthcare as a fundamental right and basically equate it to communism.

I mean, 45k+ people per year dying because they couldn't afford healthcare, many more going bankrupt in the process, yet the right in the US seemed to believe that it should all be left alone.

Seemed a bit ridiculous, because if their prized free market was the solution, there would have been no need for healthcare reform.

What a brilliant legacy for Obama, I don't think he was too worried about the nutjobs criticising him.

yeah spoke about this earlier in the thread, americans seem so scared of any type of government intervention(or thats just an excuse)

The ground is still shifting.

It will get there in my opinion. Bernie has raised tonnes of money for example, so financing isn't an issue for a populist candidate on the left.

A huge proportion of Sanders' donations and support come from people who can't vote. It's the votes that matter.

Bernie needs to get black voters behind him to have a shot either way, Clinton has been winning big there

The terrifying thing is, Ted Cruz is just as much of a hateful, clueless cretin as Trump, but he's gone under the radar because of how Trump has acted.

Sanders = Wrong about pretty much everything.
Clinton = Horrible woman who will do and say anything to get her grubby hands on power.
Trump = Pathetic mess.
Cruz = A slightly slimmer version of Trump with real hair.

He did well with the black community in Michigan. I think he has a problem in the southern states but Trump/Cruz will take those states either way.
I don't think he'll get the nomination but he has started a serious progressive grass roots movement. Before the first debates, most here thought Hillary would beat him by 20 points everywhere except VT.
It's looking likely that It will be Trump/Clinton, Which puts Clinton in a tricky spot. Does she pull left to try and pick up the Sanders vote or head for the center to pick up independent and moderate Republican vote. I've a feeling that she'll veer to the center (she's far more comfortable there) which will cause a pretty big rift in the Democratic party. It will also put any chance of winning the senate and gaining seats in the house in jeopardy.

I claim to be no expert on US politics (or UK politics for that matter), but Trump sure does seem like a dangerous guy from over here.

I'm all ears...

What's Sanders wrong about?
For the record, I don't think he's a great candidate because of his age and I don't think he'll work well with a gridlocked congress but, for me, he's the best of a bad lot and I don't think he's wrong about much.

I was being very liberal with my sarcasm - he's a nice guy though, that's about the best I could say for him.

How many Winner-take-all states are left on the Republican side?
Looks like he will fall just short creating the mess at the convention we all want to see ;)

Ted Cruz is far worse than Trump, by whatever measure you want to use.

Perhaps, though like everything else with him he is a lot less dangerous in reality - it is what he represents that is the scary thing, that so many people have been so utterly disenfranchised that someone like that (or Sanders, who is polar opposite in terms of politics but who represents the same sort of folk) is vastly preferable to the continued rule of an elite that has (and will) presided over much of the population getting ever poorer.

Of course, the truly scary thing is what happens if this phenomena in Western politics isn't sorted out - we will be seeing people come to prominence who will be genuinely terrifying, using methods that are emphatically not democratic.
