I think that he's viewed with far greater reverence outside Goodison. How many managers have as many Manager of the Year awards as him? And he hasn't even won anything. If you take the recent appointments by Liverpool, Villa, Chelsea and Newcastle as examples the vogue is to go for bright young things over more experienced managers. Martinez is another who has been touted for every job going. Moyes bridges the two in that he hasn't peaked yet but he's certainly a safe pair of hands. He's also the master when it comes to stretching a tight budget. Given the recession and financial fairplay rules, that will make him very attractive to a lot of clubs. The fact that there wouldn't be a significant compensation package attached makes it even more enticing.

Still doesn't prove he's got the reputation and respect to waltz into a top club and expect full control.

He's won nothing. All he's done is be able to over achieve within restraints. Bigger, better managers havent had full control of their clubs. Mourinho has only ever had full control of porto (arguably)...he's never been in full control of inter, Chelsea and real. And Moyes is meant to be up with him?

I have constructed a Moyes interview Bingo card. Feel free to add and we can tick them off. Winner gets a Ginger wig

"Commited to Everton"
"No Approach"
"Every approach will be discussed with the Chairman"
"Flattered"
"Will do whats best for this Football Club"

See above ^. And if he's asked a question along the lines of "Are you here to look at players?", etc. He'll have safe reply like:

"We're always on the look out for new players"

Shearer will think he's clever and try to crack a gag:

"But that Bilyaletdinov fella didn't turn out so great did he, Davey?"

Moyes does us all a favour and goes in with a Glaswegian kiss on Shearer.

"I'm in the middle of my "Barca" project at Everton - it's just a matter of time baby"

(he smugly crosses legs and smirks like the cat who's got the cream)

I wouldn't fancy Moyes' chances, Shearer looks to have a very dense cranium.

Pardew was a guest on the BBC the other day and was asked abotu Spurs, if he'd be interested. He just simply said 'No' and went on to explain whether Demba Ba is there next season or not he has a group of players who will have a good go 'at it' again.

Will Moyes say no? I doubt it. He will smile and leave the door open in some way with his superior intelligence and articulation! Bet he doesn't say no he's not interested.

Whatever anyone says about Moyes he cares about the fans at everton and does have strong morals so i cant see him going on there tonight if he is leaving. Moyes will be asked and will possibly give a "non answer" to get kenright fidgeting so that he will get money from investors. Moyes will work this well tonight. The only problem will come when Moyes doesnt get his money and has his perennial sulk.

That sulk is all part of his strategy each year to position himself as a manager who achieves above and beyond the limits of resources. He wouldn't have it any other way. He'd stick at Everton for another decade if he could be guaranteed the adulation of the media in guiding plucky Everton to 7th/8th place finishes. He knows if he had to deliver a trophy elsewhere he couldn't hack it. To win trophies you need cash, yes, but you also need to be astute and to be bold. He's neither astute nor bold.

There's no mystery in why no top club have come in for Moyes. They're not daft. They know what a grafter looks like when they see one.

Oh yeah. He'll say something along the lines off...

"I dont pay attention to any of that. I'm looking forward to pre-season with Everton. We've a good bunch of players at Everton. Yeah, we dont have the funds of the likes of Spurs, but we try to compete the best we can."

Yes or No Davey?

I think he'll say something more positive towards Tottenham as a club while maybe hinting there are talks planned with Kenwright and leave it at that. Going to be interesting. Let's hope he is asked directly about the Spurs 'possibility'. Be horrible if it's just avoided.

Thanks! What's he said if anything about Spurs so far? Right now he's talking about Euro 2012

Just was talking about what clubs would be looking to buy from Euro 2012 and said 'I don't know what we'd be buying from anywhere!' referring to our poorly status.

Damn I missed the Spurs part. The interview ended with Colin Murray saying 'good work with the Spurs answers because will prepare you later when Gary asks ya'

The most telling quote in the whole thread. What does the above say about the manager: he is highly regarded by everyone, but less so by people who have actively watched his teams for ten years.

He will talk the rumours up even though he knows there is no truth in them. He will see it as a chance to get a bigger wage.
