We are going through at the worst deadly virus in over 100 years and if at the start of next season Spurs are unlucky enough to be playing the bigger teams at home and it's still lockdown, it is what it is.
I'm not even sure that a stadium with only 40% of fans insde will make that much difference anyway?

In the interest of fairness, I think the best solution is to have crowds (If possible) after 18 games with everyone playing everyone in first 18 a vice versa;

That said - as soon as there is tickets to be sold and an enhance tv product - crowds will be straight in

Fairness is out the window and I don't think there would be one club in any of the four divisions who would vote for this and as many will be wanting to go ASAP, I don't think the majority of match going supporters would agree either?

It's great newsfor football that the virus has not ravaging through this group like many on here thought would happen and great news for the country.
Let's hope there's no big second wave.

Not sure where to put this, but this is not a surprising result:

"The Covid-19 pandemic has induced worldwide natural experiments on the effects of crowds. We exploit one of these experiments currently taking place over several countries in almost identical settings: professional football matches played behind closed doors. We find large and statistically significant effects on the number of yellow cards issued by referees. Without a crowd, fewer cards were awarded to the away teams, reducing home advantage. These results have implications for the influence of social pressure and crowds on the neutrality of refereeing decisions."

And yet our (Saints) home form improved after the restart!

not sure if this is the right thread anymore, but fixtures released tomorrow. Man united and city will not play 1st weekend

the sensible thing will be to pretend they were due to play each other first week so all the other 18 teams can play on the first weekend

.... i bet we'll end up with just 16 playing on the first weekend, and we'll be one of them.

agreed, completely unfair on the two opposing teams otherwise. To squash another fixture in is a big ask.

far too sensible a suggestion for the FA to follow. Saying that spurs have a ridiculously packed schedule to start with all the ropey league qualifiers so wouldn’t mind betting the “computer generated fixture” list takes that into the equation too.
