Project restart discussion.

My thoughts on the whole project restart is to bin it off completely. Hear the latest about Denmark squad not able to travel and England moving their game off shore. What an absolute farce it’s become. Without the fans there they are glorified training matches.

Fair point - i'm in the "it could be three years" til crowds are back in full swing and we cant afford to wait. It is awful compared to where we were, but so is having a pint in the pub.

It's not great, but its better than nothing indefinitely

It does seem so pointless and is doing more damage than good. Even if they just kept it to domestic leagues and cups for this season that would have been something.

Re subs, should be kept at 3.I'm sorry, but klopp can moan all he wants, he has £40m, £50m players on the bench. Look at united v us with pogba, cavani and v der been the sheer amount of wages there. These teams get much more money for qualifying for Europe which allows them to buy much bigger squads to allow to cope much better in these situations. They can afford to rotate, klopp's style is what's causing his players injuries when he's not resting any of them. They can cope a lot better than the small teams at the bottom, yet they're the ones complaining, give me a break. If they had any trust, they'd know how to adapt.

I think you need to draw a line through Klopp and his moaning. I think it is going to flip on its head and the three subs will actually end up benefiting Klopp, Pep in particular and OGS, they have deeper squads when the going gets really tough for everyone.

but is it going to get tougher for the lower clubs as they aren’t in Europe and will likely exit the FA cup early so they’ll still only be playing 1 game a week.

Every team essentially twice a week from round 12 - Mid December to round 27 - 6th March is almost half a season with all PL teams playing one FA cup & the 4th round in there. That 16 fixtures (42% of the season) in 10 or 11 weeks for everyone.

I do find their whining pretty hard to take. These same clubs are trying to organise 20+ games a season more than they already play yet the current workload is too much. I mean which is it? It's like schrodingers fatigue it really is.

They all play their first 11 in pretty easy european fixtures too. They should just send a 2nd string out. You adapt.

100% agree and it is the orchestrated nature of it that is the most sickening part of it. They will end up getting their way on this IMHO & its a lovely fluff piece for SNN for two weeks now, but if it is left at three subs for the rest of the season, I do think it will be the smaller squads hurt more than those in Europe.

I would be amazed if it's changed mid season.

I think overall in a lot of waysit hurts them too. It allows teams to change systems more in game, which works to sides who are behind (who are poorer sides). It also allows for more time wasting etc.

What it says to me, is some sides, and particularly Liverpool are running their players in the ground. From purely a competitive advantage standpoint, if you're Leicester or whatever, you vote to keep it. Why hand an opponent a leg up?

Not sure - it certainly can be (simply voted on at next meeting)

I definitely impacts on everyone, I would have been of the belief Man city would benefit most and L'pool second and so on, but the more I think about it, it's not about who 5 subs really helps, its going to be more about who 3 subs hinders long term. Three is going to be more detrimental to the smaller squads than five will benefit the big in my opinion

It can certainly be changed, I am just of the view I'd be surprised it would be. What has changed for the majority of teams who would want it changed? You'd let it go another month, while the top teams played in Europe for 4 more weeks then do it next month. I am not sure if thats the sort of strategic thinking that happens from the PL, but it ought to be. I think the whining of OGS and Klopp would only harden my resolve on that. If you are getting under people's skins, keep doing it.

As for the 2nd part, I would be inclined to agree. I mean I don't think in lockdown results went heavily to top teams, if anything the opposite. I think there are pro's and cons. Personally I like 3 subs, as the game gets broken up too much as it is and I don't want to see it being done more. Just personnal preference though. It would probably suit us, as we have a manager who likes to change systems and players mid game.

what has changed? I would think the penny is dropping with teams outside the top few that five subs might be of benefit to them. My guess is at initial vote, the "No's" to five subs, would have voted no because they saw it as a benefit to the top and no impact on them.

Suddenly, as per moyes today, the penny is dropping that everyone's squad will be under pressure soon and equal fixture pressure on all PL clubs given European football is finished by early December.

To be able to change 50% of your outfield players for a game that consists of two 45 minute periods with a 15 minute break in between is a total nonsense. Might as well say you can have 11 subs. Just rotate the players to suit the current 'play' and be like American football. Will the clubs be happy then?
The game is a busted flush. It becomes harder and harder each day to enjoy it.

That's a good point. Us being able to use 5 subs would help`us to keep our first 11 injury free.
